Two people in fire safety suits watch a prairie burn during a prescribed firePrescribed burns of prairie/meadow habitats in Bill Yeck Park are scheduled between March 24 – April 30, 2025. The park will remain open, but visitors may experience temporary closures or detours during this time. Prescribed fires are a sustainable practice for managing prairie and forest habitats. They are among the most effective ways to control invasive plant species, promote the growth of native prairie species and improve wildlife habitat. We will post a red banner on the top of our homepage on the day of each burn.
