Celebrate Trails Day with a Hands-On Conservation Effort at Bill Yeck Park.

three people pulling garlic mustard in a forestFamilies, volunteers and nature enthusiasts are invited to roll up their sleeves and make a difference during a community garlic mustard pull on Celebrate Trails Day, Saturday, April 25, 2026!

This volunteer event offers a fun and meaningful way to enjoy the outdoors while helping protect local ecosystems.

The morning begins at 9 a.m. with a brief, beginner-friendly lesson on how to identify garlic mustard, an invasive plant that spreads aggressively and crowds out native wildflowers and important wildlife habitat. After the introduction, volunteers will head out to targeted areas along the Time Trail in Bill Yeck Park to begin removing the plants.

Garlic mustard pulling is a simple, hands-on activity that requires no special skills, making it a great opportunity for participants of all ages. Whether you’re a seasoned steward of the environment or just looking for a unique way to spend time outdoors with family and friends, everyone can play a role in restoring the park’s natural beauty.

Volunteers are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring gardening gloves if available. CWPD staff will be on-site to provide guidance and ensure a safe and successful experience.

As a thank-you for their efforts, participants will be treated to sweet treats!

The event will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Participants should meet at the south parking lot of Forest Field Park, with a short walk leading to the project area along the Time Trail.
