CENTERVILLE, OH: The Centerville-Washington Park District (CWPD) was presented a National Gold Medal Finalist plaque for excellence in park and recreation management at their November 9 park board meeting. The Gold Medal Awards program honors communities in the U.S. demonstrating excellence in parks and recreation through longrange planning, resource management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, program development, professional development and agency recognition. The award is administered by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Management (AAPRA) in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and sponsor Musco Lighting.

Becky Benná, a member of AAPRA, attended the park board meeting virtually to present the award. Benná is the Executive Director of Five Rivers MetroParks. “I want to congratulate you for your outstanding accomplishment. Locally, we are very proud that you represent our state,” Benná said. “The Centerville-Washington Park District represents the best of the best.”

Park District Director Arnie Biondo said, “It is an honor to be recognized as one of the best park and recreation systems in the nation. During the pandemic, many have turned to parks for rest, exercise, comfort and renewal, serving as a reminder to us all how important parks are to the quality of life.”
