Kettering PRCA and Centerville-Washington Park District are collaborating to bring the joy of bird watching to our youth.
Bird watching and identification is a fun and rewarding hobby and also a great place to make friends. Light snacks are provided. Participants must become members of the Ohio Young Birders Club and be between the ages of 12 and 18.

Butterfly Survey
Recommended for ages 8 and up
Help contribute to research by joining the naturalist on butterfly surveys. Identify and count butterflies while observing other seasonal wildlife as we stroll. No experience is necessary. Trail is approximately one mile in length on uneven terrain. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Bike Centerville Advanced Ride A
Ages 18 and up
Take advantage of this opportunity to explore Centerville and Dayton by bicycle. The ride will be led by trained and experienced bike leaders and will help you learn routes to shopping, parks and more! This ride will take our Bike Centerville Community Rides up a level and be approximately 22 miles.

Fitness Yoga C

Wednesdays, July 23 – August 27
You will get it all in one fitness class — a challenging workout, yoga practice, as well as mindfulness and functional movement for vitality and longevity. All levels are welcome. Taught by certified yoga instructor Dan Loofboro. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Creek Peek: Hidden Wonders Beneath the Rocks
All ages
Want to learn more about what hides out under rocks in and near waterways? Come find out who considers these rocks home and why these creatures live the way they do. Later, paint a rock resembling your discoveries! Dress to be in the creek. Close-toed shoes are required. This is a Tools to Trek Program.

BIG Backyard Party
All ages
The 9th annual BIG Backyard Party is here! Join us for an afternoon full of hands-on activities all ages and abilities can enjoy. Activities will include inflatables, fishing, archery, field games, and so much more! Two hundred free fishing poles are available for children ages 14 and under thanks to a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. This program is made possible by several ongoing community partnerships.

Fitness Yoga D

Gentle Yoga

Join us for a gentler, more adaptable yoga program. This class will feature additional guidance, modifications and props to assist in supporting postures and a slower pace. Taught by certified yoga instructor Kathleen Crosby. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Summer Pressed Flowers
Ages 14 and up
This class will begin with an introduction to various flower pressing and preserving methods. After that, we will press some flowers of our own and make mini art with dried flowers. Participants may choose to add on a wooden flower press for an additional fee if they have not taken this class before.

Conservation Crew: Invasive Plant Control
Ages 12 – 18
The Conservation Crew will take charge of a native wildflower meadow, removing invasive plants to promote pollinator habitat. If you have work gloves, please bring them. We will have some on hand to borrow.

Glass Fusing: Whimsical Garden Décor
Ages 16 and up
Add more color to your garden with glass décor. Kathy Woodruff from Busy Beaver will lead participants through the basics of glass fusing. Create two small pieces to stake in your garden.

Mini Evening Campout

Learn family fun camping skills — how to set up a tent, start a campfire to toast the best marshmallows, what sticks are best to cook with over an open fire, and other useful things to know before heading out! Also, learn the best things to bring with you!

Ages 16 and up

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll design a stunning, versatile wreath that celebrates the beauty of nature. This approximately 8-10″ wreath is perfect for any season and is designed to be displayed year-round, bringing a touch of natural charm to your home.

Pickleball League Any Doubles My Teen & Me B
Ages 12 – 17 plus a family member over 21
Sundays, August 3 – September 7
Join a Park District pickleball league and play pickleball in the parks this summer! This for-fun league is open to any doubles teams (men’s, women’s, or mixed doubles) comprised of a teen and their parent/guardian or other close family member over the age of 21. Please register your teen and list the participating family member in the questions. Both players must have an online account set up on the same household profile. There is no single player will call for this league.
