This adapted hike welcomes all community members to enjoy a stunning hike through the meadows of Bill Yeck Park! An ASL interpreter will assist our naturalist in sharing facts about the wildlife, plants and ecosystems we will explore! This program is open to everyone, but is suggested for families with children who are 8 years old or older. Hike will be approximately 1.5 miles over natural terrain. This program is in partnership with Community Services for the Deaf Dayton.

Registration (one per family) is requested, but not required.

All ages

A fall family favorite! Explore a lineup of awesome trucks and community vehicles while collecting treats and giveaways along the way. Costumes for all are encouraged! Kona Ice and Travelin’ Toms Coffee Truck refreshments will be available for purchase, weather permitting.

Registration is not required, however registered participants will receive a cancellation email in the event of inclement weather.

Ages 18 and up

Create loose watercolor drawings of balancing rocks. Learn techniques like how to add interest to backgrounds, combine fields of color with line work, utilize a limited palette, and work with limited brushes to improve dexterity. This class is best for beginner to intermediate level participants. All supplies will be provided, and you will leave the class with your completed artwork! Class is taught by visual artist and designer Renee Hopson.

Let’s get those noses going! Join us for a self-guided hike through the trails of Bill Yeck Park, complete with sniff-stops along the way. Your dog will explore brand-new scents, and you get a beautiful fall hike with your best friend. Afterwards, treat your pup to a fall-themed pup-cup!

Tuesdays, October 20 – November 17

Join Certified Pickleball Trainer James Lawson to develop the introductory skills to level up your pickleball game. This 4-week lesson is designed for the beginner player looking to develop basic skills to move up to a more competitive level of play. This program will move indoors for adapted lessons in inclement weather. Please note different address for rain location.

Ages 8 – 14

In this festive hands-on class, kids will explore electricity and circuits while creating their own LED light-up Halloween candy tote bag! After learning how simple circuits work, they’ll design and build a glowing pumpkin-themed tote that’s perfect for carrying candy on Halloween night.

Ages 5 – 12

School is out for fall break! Do you have a plan? Much like our summer day camp, campers will explore the park, but this time for all things fall foliage! The theme for Thursday is Habitat Hoppers! We will explore the various habitats at Grant Park, from the meadows to the forest to the creek. Along the way, we will learn about the wildlife that live in these habitats.

Ages 16 and up

Capture the golden and glowing autumn sunlight with a 4.5″ by 9″ suncatcher featuring sunflowers! Kathy Woodruff from Busy Beaver will provide the supplies and instruction. Bring your ideas!

Ages 5 – 12

Much like our summer day camp, campers will explore the park, but this time for all things fall foliage! Children will participate in games, crafts, hikes, and nature programs, all while staying active and outdoors on their days off! The theme for Friday is Whooo Loves Camp?! We will learn about who comes out at night in our parks, play games and complete crafts centered on nocturnal wildlife, and take part in nature activities.

Ages 16 and up

Join us for a cozy and creative night! Try watercolor paintbrush pens to bring a pre-outlined autumn scene to life. Enjoy a relaxing ambiance with plenty of fall-themed refreshments. All supplies included, participants will get to keep their watercolor paint pen set.

Ages 11 – 16

Create spooky scenes with watercolor brush pens. Use flowing layers and natural blending to create misty shadows, eerie skies, and ghostly shapes that feel extra mysterious! A variety of breakfast treats will be provided to enjoy while you paint. No experience needed. All supplies included, participants will get to keep their watercolor paint pen set.

Join local artist and educator Heather Ballard for a morning exploring fall foliage. Learn the basics of exposure, camera settings and composition. Bring your fully charged camera and memory card. This class is open to photographers with all types of cameras — from DSLRs to smartphones!

Beth Bridgeman, a full-time maker and weaver from Yellow Springs, Ohio, will teach about several safe, effective adaptogenic herbs and the unique properties and benefits of each. Method Yoga’s Megan Lees leads these yoga classes for all levels. Classes include a warm-up, breath work, standing poses, flowing poses, and end with relaxation.
