Crafts with Nature Summer Series
Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion
We will complete crafts with nature/sensory themes, read stories, play games and take short hikes in the park — all to spark a love of nature in our youngest community members! The theme for July is ‘Grubs, Slugs and Bugs!’. This program is limited to one adult companion per registrant. If your child is not walking, backpacks and front carriers are appropriate. Strollers are not recommended for parks with natural terrain.

Early Adventures: Rook’s Mill
Ages 0 – 5 years with adult companion
These exploratory hikes foster curiosity and confidence in young children. Your leader will point out seasonal changes and other natural points of interest in the parks. Hikes can be on a natural or paved path, depending on the location. This is a Tools to Trek program. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking.

Join a Park District tennis league and play tennis in the parks this summer! Several levels of play allow opportunities for all abilities. All leagues are 10 weeks long.

Creative Crafting
Ages 9 – 13
Try new art skills during this fun, nature-themed crafting program. Each session will offer different options for participants to choose from, allowing them to work independently or get creative together!

Butterfly Survey
Recommended for ages 8 and up
Help contribute to research by joining the naturalist on butterfly surveys. Identify and count butterflies while observing other seasonal wildlife as we stroll. No experience is necessary. Trail is approximately one mile in length on uneven terrain. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Creek Peek: Fossil Finders
All ages
Learn about fossil formation and the main types of fossils found in Holes Creek. Wear clothing that can get wet. Closed-toe shoes are required. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Sandscape Studio with Now and Zen DIY
Ages 6 and up with an adult companion (Adults can register to create their own terrarium)
Children and adults alike will enjoy creating sand art during this unique workshop from Now and Zen Studio. Choose vibrant sands, natural accents and air plants to design a one-of-a-kind terrarium that’s as fun to make as it is beautiful to display.

Splash of Color Picnic
All ages
(Rain date: Saturday, July 18)
Join the Centerville-Washington Park District and the Washington-Centerville Public Library for our second annual tie-dye event! This year, bring along white cotton items and a picnic to enjoy in the park. We’ll help you create vibrant masterpieces, then cool off in the sprayground and enjoy your picnic.
Registration is not required; however, registered participants will receive weather updates by email, if necessary. Please note: A maximum of two items per person for tie-dyeing, 100% cotton works best. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Kona Ice is available for purchase. Be sure to wear something you don’t mind getting messy!

Campers will learn to navigate trails, compete in fun survivor-themed challenges and create their own nature patches. Exploring the wonders of nature through hands-on activities while exploring new places will lead to meaningful memories that last for years! Recreation Day Camp is weather-dependent; you will receive a refund for any canceled days at the end of the week.

Discover the science hidden all around the park! Campers will explore nature trails, experiment with simple machines and tackle hands-on STEM challenges inspired by the outdoors. It’s the perfect mix of science, creativity and adventure!

This popular program continues into the summer! This drop-off program is designed to give your child the opportunity to get creative! They will design a variety of projects based on a monthly theme. Sign up for one or multiple sessions.

Dance Fitness with Emily B
Ages 18 and up
Tuesdays, July 14 – August 18
This class is a total body workout designed to bring people (like you!) together through music and dance. We dance to various styles of music (Latin, hip hop, pop, global rhythms, etc.) which provides a good mix of low to high-intensity moves. Instructor Emily Chandler strives to make this class high-energy and a lot of fun! Please bring a bottle of water.
