Spring Into Archery
Ages 8 – 15
We will learn the basics of archery and put the skills learned to practice. Participants will compete against each other in friendly competition. No experience is required. All equipment is provided.

Pickleball League Any Doubles My Teen & Me
Ages 12 – 17 plus family member over 21
Sundays, March 30 – May 4
Join a Park District pickleball league and play pickleball in the parks this spring! All leagues are 6 weeks long. Six Franklin X-40 pickleballs per team are included and can be picked up from Park District Headquarters prior to league play. This for-fun league is open to any doubles teams (men’s, women’s, or mixed doubles) comprised of a teen and their parent/guardian or other close family member over the age of 21.

Pickleball League Any Doubles Intermediate A
Ages 18 and up
Mondays, March 31 – May 5
Join a Park District pickleball league and play pickleball in the parks this summer! All leagues are 6 weeks long. Six Franklin X-40 pickleballs per team are included and can be picked up from Park District Headquarters prior to league play. This for-fun league is open to any doubles teams (men’s, women’s or mixed doubles) at the intermediate level.

Beginner Pickleball Lessons – April
Ages 18 and up
Tuesdays, April 1 – April 22
Join Certified Pickleball Trainer James Lawson to develop the introductory skills to level up your pickleball game. James is a licensed and certified instructor with a current DUPR rating of 5.23. This 4-week lesson is designed for the beginner player looking to develop basic skills to move up to a more competitive level of play.

Early Adventures
Ages 0 – 5 years with adult companion
Your leader will point out seasonal changes and other natural points of interest in the parks. Hike is on a natural path. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking.Ages 0 – 5 years with adult companion

Embroidery Journaling: Stitch the Year with CWPD
Ages 14 and up
Thursdays, April 3 & May 1
Enhance your stitching skills as we continue our journey through 2025. This class will take us through the spring months as we create an embroidered journal representing important or special memories with simple stitches and colorful designs. Some experience with stitching is recommended. Each session will include light refreshments and a nature talk on a seasonal topic.

Family Wind Chime Workshop
Recommended for families with children 6 and up
Use natural materials to create a beautiful wind chime. First, we will take a short walk to collect the stick to hang the chimes. Each family will get approximately one pound of clay to make impressions with natural textures and then glaze to make beautiful and unique chimes. The wind chimes would make great Mother’s Day gifts! Please register one person per family.

Spring Stargazing
Ages 6 and up
Boonshoft Museum of Discovery will have an indoor planetarium to view the night sky inside the Nature Nook. There will also be opportunities for various outdoor stargazing activities, such as enjoying a campfire with hot chocolate, and a short night hike with a naturalist to see the stars (weather-dependent). Please register each member of the family who will be attending.

Search for and collect an egg from twelve stations and turn them in for a prize! Each egg will represent an animal you can find in your parks. Glen Helen Raptor Center will be bringing some feathered friends. The trail and stations will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete.
