Arctic Explorations Camp B – Tuesday ONLY

A winter break camp experience to keep your children active while school is out! Much like our summer day camp, campers will explore the park, but this time for all things winter! Children will warm up in the Smith House with games, crafts and nature programs.

Young Birders Club Chapter Meeting

Bird watching and identification is a fascinating subject. You will walk away with a greater knowledge of birds and their role in the ecosystem. Participants must be members of the Ohio Young Birders Club. We will have pizza and bird-themed games.

Conservation Crew: Invasive Ivy Removal

Big Bend Park 1328 Spring Ash Drive, Centerville, OH, United States

Ages 12 – 17

Ring in the New Year by tackling the ivy at Big Bend Park! Creating space by removing these plants will allow us to sow some spring wildflower seeds and improve the habitat! Participants will get to take a few spring wildflower seeds to start their own habitats.

Spot’s Spot the Yetis Scavenger Hunt

All ages
Thursday, January 5 – Thursday, February 16

Each week, participants will receive a clue to go out in your parks to search for the baby yetis. Yetis will only be hiding at each park for one week! Mark their numbers and where you found them on the recording sheet. Turn in your sheets for a tiny yeti of your own to paint.

Registration deadline: Wednesday, February 15 (Clues are emailed every Thursday.)

An introduction to Tai Chi and Qigong (pronounced Chi Kung) principles and form through Tai Chi Easy — a form created by Roger Jahnke, O.M.D. — to make Tai Chi accessible and fun for everyone. Taught by Judy Wilson, Certified Integral Qigong and Tai Chi Instructor. This class will take place outdoors with the option to move indoors for inclement weather.

Styrofoam Recycling Event

Activity Center Park 221 N. Main St., Centerville, OH, United States

Bring your Styrofoam to Activity Center Park. Volunteers will unload your vehicle — you won’t even need to get out of your car! This event is open to the public, regardless of where you live. If you are interested in dropping off Styrofoam, please make sure you are following the guidelines: Styrofoam must be clean, no food containers, no stickers or tape.

Children will learn about nature and the outdoors in this program designed to allow children to interact with nature in unique ways. Activities include discovery, challenges and games. We occasionally celebrate the last session of the season with a campfire and s’mores. Please let us know if your child has any dietary restrictions by answering the custom questions upon registration.

Reading in the Wild

Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion

Let’s get together to read a story! We will act out the plot with active games, sing songs with sensory themes and take short hikes in the park. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking. Limited to one adult companion per registrant. We will move into the Kennard Nature Nook in inclement weather.

Glass Fusing: Bubble Wave Bowl

Start the new year with a wave of creativity! Learn the principles of kiln-fired glass and the skills to cut glass from instructor Kathy Woodruff. No matter how artistic you are, your unique bowl will be a beautiful and functional piece of artwork.
