CWPD is looking for our newest generation of naturalists! This program is an opportunity for participants to explore Bill Yeck through their five senses, just like naturalists! Each month will cover a different, exciting topic. The theme for January is Winter Birds

Ages 9 – 13
Try new art skills during this fun crafting program based on nature themes. Each session will have different options for participants to choose from and allow them to work independently or get creative together!

Owlexander’s Cinema: Owls
Ages 5 – 10
Owlexander is holding a movie night, and he’s inviting his friends to join him for a fun-filled evening! We will kick off the evening with owl crafts, games and preparing a salty snack. Then, we will settle in for a kid-friendly movie all about owls! Looking for something to do while your kids are out and about? Check out the Warm Hearts Couples Evening happening the same night.

Warm Hearts: Couples Evening
Ages 16 and up
Warm up with your special someone during a night out in the park! Start the evening with an intentional, self-guided night hike lined with deep-dive questions to spark conversation. Then, get out of the cold and into the Smith House for a hot chocolate bar and games, or head outside to enjoy a cozy bonfire together. This is a night for couples young and old! One registration per pair. Night hike trail will be paved and lit for easy navigation. Looking for something to do with the kids while out on this special night? Register them for Owlexander’s Cinema, happening the same evening!

Winter Hiking Club: Sleeping Insects
All ages
Getting outdoors makes us happy and healthy, especially in the wintertime! Participants will join the instructor for a brief nature lesson, game, art, or activity before the group starts the hike to explore the park. This is a Tools to Trek program. Individuals who attend Winter Hiking Club will get a themed sticker! This hike takes place on a natural path.
Participants can register up to the start of the program.
Glass Fusing: Winter Birch Trees A
Ages 16 and up
You will create a beautiful winter birch scene on a 10.75” square of glass. Kathy Woodruff from Busy Beaver will lead participants through our biggest glass fusing project of the season!

Moss Art Workshop with Now and Zen
Ages 16 and up
Join Now and Zen DIY to design a beautiful 8″ x 8″ piece of wall art using preserved moss and other interesting natural elements. A truly unique accent for your home that you’ll enjoy for years to come!

Art & Imagination
Ages 6 – 8
This drop-off program is designed to give your child the opportunity to get creative! They will design a variety of projects based on a monthly theme. Outdoor activities will be included when weather permits. Sign up for one or multiple sessions.

Meet the Trees Hike and Learn
All ages
Families will walk the Tree Trail and learn some fun, dare we say unbe-LEAF-able, facts about our local trees, how to identify them in winter, and decide which one is right for your yard! Participants will enter a drawing for a gift card to Siebenthaler’s Nursery. This is a Tools to Trek program. This hike takes place on a crushed limestone path.

Teddy Bear Slumber Party
Ages 5 – 8
It’s a Teddy Bear’s evening out! Bring your teddy for a snuggly evening featuring themed stories and crafts. We will also have games and snacks all tailored to children and their teddies. Don’t miss this cozy imaginative evening program that aims to foster a love for storytelling and reading among children. Please be sure to note any dietary restrictions.

Couples Dinner Date with a Starry Stroll
Ages 18 and up
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with instructor Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling! Make a romantic dinner for two featuring salmon with a salad, roasted potatoes and dessert! After enjoying your meal, take a walk around a luminary-lit paved path. Sign up one person per couple. Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this class. The hike is weather-dependent.

The Importance of Trees in our Urban Environment
Ages 16 and up
Pat Migliozzi, Certified Forester with the ODNR Division of Forestry will share how trees and shrubs are beneficial to us and wildlife in our landscapes. Best practices for site and plant selections will also be covered.
Registration is taken by Washington-Centerville Public Library beginning on January 13.

Winter Woods
Ages 5 – 12
Calling all kids that love camp! Join us on your day off school for a camp full of all our favorite fun camp activities, but in the winter! Campers will enjoy hikes and games outside, gather around the fire circle for s’mores, then warm up in the Smith House with games and crafts. You may also register for camp on Monday, February 17!

Valentine’s Day Family Art Workshop
Recommended for ages 5 – 10 with adult companion (s)
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a heartwarming family craft session! Work together to create a personalized family plate with your handprints and names. It will be fired in the kiln, making it a durable memento. Add some extra love to your celebration with a special flower craft, perfectly arranged in a vase for you to take home and enjoy. Register one person per family. If you would like to make multiple plates, register an additional child or adult.
