Crafts with Nature: Nocturnal Neighbors—Bats!
Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion
We will complete crafts with nature/sensory themes, read stories, play games and take short hikes in the park — all to spark a love of nature in our youngest community members! The theme for October is ‘Bats!’. We will learn about the whimsical world of bats, make a take-home bat craft, and have some pretend play.

This drop-off program is designed to give your child the opportunity to get creative! They will design a variety of projects based on a monthly theme. Outdoor activities will be included when weather permits. Sign up for one or multiple sessions.

From Patch to Plate
Ages 8 – 15
Join Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling to celebrate the flavors of fall with sweet and savory seasonal foods. Make spaghetti squash pasta with a savory sauce and an apple crumb dessert. Don’t forget the spiced apple cider! Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this class.

Ohio Young Birders Club Chapter Meeting

Join the OYBC Southwest Chapter! Kettering PRCA and Centerville-Washington Park District are collaborating to bring the joy of bird watching to our youth through the Ohio Young Birders Club. Light snacks are provided. Participants must become members of the Ohio Young Birders Club.

Dance Fitness with Emily

This class is a total body workout designed to bring people (like you!) together through music and dance. We dance to various styles of music (Latin, hip hop, pop, global rhythms, etc.) which provides a good mix of low to high-intensity moves. Instructor Emily Chandler strives to make this class high-energy and a lot of fun! Please bring a bottle of water.

Spooky Slime Making

Join us for the fan-favorite fall version of slime with Halloween-themed additions! This program is a great way to get creative while making new friends and trying new slime recipes for fun and stress relief! Due to the variety of types of slime, please be sure to note any allergies.

Fitness for Longevity C
Ages 18 and up
Wednesdays, October 14 – November 18
This class is designed to maintain strength, mobility and power at an advanced level, regardless of your age. This is accomplished through a focus on grip strength, speed, balance, and building muscle. Due to the incorporation of a full range of exercises from calisthenics to long holds and deep stretches, prior exercise experience is highly recommended. Taught by Dan Loofboro. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

A welcoming, low-impact way to build strength, balance, and inner calm while learning a yang-style Tai Chi series. Designed for adults of all ages and fitness levels, this class introduces participants to the gentle, flowing movements of traditional Tai Chi. Each session focuses on slow, intentional movement, mindful breathing and improved body awareness.

Clay Forest Friends
Ages 8 and up
Participants will explore the art of clay sculpting while creating whimsical forest critters resting on a natural-textured base. Kristin Bailey from The Purple Paintbrush will provide 2 lbs. of clay and educational guidance to encourage the creation of curious foxes, slow-moving snails, gentle turtles or a creature all their own! Please note: children younger than 8 can sign up to attend with a parent or guardian to assist them with the project. Adults can sign up on their own as well!

Signs of Fall: ASL Interpreted Hike
All ages (recommended for ages 8 and up)

This adapted hike welcomes all community members to enjoy a stunning hike through the meadows of Bill Yeck Park! An ASL interpreter will assist our naturalist in sharing facts about the wildlife, plants and ecosystems we will explore! This program is open to everyone, but is suggested for families with children who are 8 years old or older. Hike will be approximately 1.5 miles over natural terrain. This program is in partnership with Community Services for the Deaf Dayton.
Registration (one per family) is requested, but not required.
Truck or Treat
All ages
A fall family favorite! Explore a lineup of awesome trucks and community vehicles while collecting treats and giveaways along the way. Costumes for all are encouraged! Kona Ice and Travelin’ Toms Coffee Truck refreshments will be available for purchase, weather permitting.
Registration is not required, however registered participants will receive a cancellation email in the event of inclement weather.
