Pumpkin Spice Paint Night

Join us for a cozy and creative night in the Community Room! Try out watercolor paintbrush pens to bring a pre-outlined autumn scene to life while enjoying a relaxing ambiance with plenty of fall-themed refreshments. All supplies included, participants will get to keep their watercolor paint pen set.

Confidence Behind the Camera
Ages 14 and up
Join local artist and educator Heather Ballard for a “level 2 beginner” class to learn the basics on how to use your DSLR or mirrorless camera. Get out of auto mode! This session will include time outside photographing autumn color in the park and a more in-depth introduction to the basics of exposure, camera settings and composition. Bring your fully charged camera and memory card.

Honeysuckle Homestead
All ages
Join us for a family-friendly day of honeysuckle removal! While we accomplish the important task of removing invasive honeysuckle from the park, we will also build forts in the Mark Kruesch Nature Playce with the honeysuckle sticks and vine!
There will be children’s games and a picnic around a fire with hot dogs to roast, chips and drinks. The day will culminate with a dessert of Honeysuckle Tea and cookies. The group with the most impressive fort will win a prize basket!
Fitness for Longevity (fomerly Fitness Yoga)
Ages 18 and up
Mondays, October 27 – December 1
This class is designed to help you maintain the strength, mobility and power at age 100 that you have now. You’ll work motor units—which disappear if we don’t use them—and all types of muscle, from slow twitch to fast twitch. All levels are welcome. Taught by certified yoga instructor Dan Loofboro. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Join instructor Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling to spooky up your snacks! Create Halloween-themed healthy bites and treats, featuring mummy pizza and graveyard cake! Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this class

Nature Fun: An Outdoor Family Storytime
All ages
Families are invited to join us outside to listen to a story brought to you by the Washington-Centerville Public Library! Participate in nature-themed activities following the story. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on. All sessions are Tools to Trek programs.
Registration is not required but is recommended.
Coffee With Your Pup
All ages (children must be 8+ to enter the dog park)
Calling all dog owners to enjoy an early-morning social at the dog park! Travelin’ Tom’s coffee truck will be available for owners to purchase coffee to sip while watching their dogs play. Dogs will get a free pup cup courtesy of the Centerville-Washington Park District! This is a great opportunity to meet and greet other dog lovers and socialize your pup.

What better use of old Halloween pumpkins than to shoot them with arrows? Join us for an evening of archery, but this time aim for pumpkins! We will learn the basics of archery and put the skills learned into practice. Participants will compete in friendly fall-themed competitions. All equipment is provided.

Early Adventures
Ages 0 – 5 years with adult companion
Hit the trail with us! These exploratory hikes foster curiosity and confidence in young children. Your leader will point out seasonal changes and other natural points of interest in the parks. Hike is on a natural path. This is a Tools to Trek program. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking.

Mad Science University

Science is all around us! Children will experience science firsthand through hands-on, and sometimes messy, activities! We will explore fascinating science concepts with a new theme each week. We are putting science to the test as your child learns about chemistry, biology and physics.

Kid’s Glass Fusing: Penguin Ornaments
Ages 6 – 10 with adult companion
Children will use their creativity to make two penguin ornaments! Kathy Woodruff from Busy Beaver will assist the children and parents, guardians or grandparents as they work together on this unique project. All supplies provided. Please register each child attending.

Glass Fusing: Night Light
Ages 16 and up
Create a 3.25″ by 3.25″ nightlight to add a unique glow to the dark winter evenings. Kathy Woodruff from Busy Beaver will provide the supplies. Beginners and returners alike are welcome.

Glow in the Park Pickleball
All ages (Required to be 8 or older to play pickleball matches; anyone under 16 must have an adult guardian)
Join us at the courts for a special glow-in-the-dark evening of pickleball! The court will be lit with fun colors and we’ll have light-up pickleballs! Wear colors that will shine under black light and glow/light-up accessories! Please sign up each person who would like to play and note if you have a partner with whom you would prefer to play. Otherwise, we will mix up teams for this any doubles-style event! Please note that this is NOT a tournament-style event. Matches will be for fun and to lower points. Please bring your own paddles and wear secure footwear. Pickleballs will be provided.
