Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion

Let’s get together and do a nature craft! We will complete crafts with nature/sensory themes, read stories, play games — all to spark a love of nature in our youngest community members! The theme for December is “Oh Deer!” Please register each child attending. This is not a drop off program. An adult must remain with their participant(s).

Ages 3 – 5 with adult companion

Let’s get moving! Children will enjoy participating in easy-to-follow song and dance videos made for preschoolers, followed by a hands-on activity that encourages movement, laughter and healthy fun!

Fitness Fusion incorporates cardio, circuit training, resistance training, Pilates and compound exercises. Modifications provided. No guts, no glory! Taught by Emily Chandler, a certified group fitness instructor. You will need a light set of weights and a towel or yoga mat.

Ages 6 – 12 with an adult companion

Grab your favorite grown-up and join us for a sweet holiday adventure! Together with Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling, you’ll build, decorate, and sprinkle your way to a one-of-a-kind graham cracker gingerbread house using lots of colorful candies and frosting. One holiday house per child. If you have multiple children, you must register them individually. Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this class.

A new take on our take-home craft kits! Participants will receive a bag with supplies to make three cozy crafts – the perfect indoor activity for the winter weather!

Ages 9 – 13

Try new art skills during this fun, nature-themed crafting program. Each session will offer different options for participants to choose from, allowing them to work independently or get creative together!

All ages

Create native seed balls to hand out as a holiday gift to friends and family. Each household will make 12 seed balls, cut fabric squares for wrapping paper and make labels for their gifts. We will have lessons on planting native plants and about the species included in the seed balls.

Enjoy a candlelit stroll through Bill Yeck Park. There will be a half-mile paved route and a one-mile route along the purple trail. Pop into the Smith House to tour some gingerbread-inspired dessert houses made by Eat Pretty Darling’s Katie Blauser and her students! Warm up by the fire at the John Meyer II Memorial Fire Circle and enjoy the sounds of the season with carols from Centerville High School’s symphonic choir. Free hot chocolate and music by Jim Douglass, the Piano Man, at the Forest Field shelter. Hot chocolate available while supplies last.

Ages 12 – 18

Kettering PRCA and Centerville-Washington Park District are collaborating to bring the joy of bird watching to our youth. Bird watching and identification is a fun and rewarding hobby and also a great place to make friends. Light snacks are provided. Participants must become members of the Ohio Young Birders Club and be between the ages of 12 and 18.

Grow Together Garden Club will focus on the entire household working as a team to manage your own native wildflower gardens at home.  During this winter session, we will talk about how our native gardens help wildlife, starting native wildflower seeds and make some colorful art to brighten up our spaces. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Gather your family and join us for a day of crafts, stories, family activities and of course, a delightful tea party! All families will share tea sandwiches and mini desserts with their loved ones, while staying warm and cozy in the Community Room. This program is for families with children ages 3 and up. Please register each attendee individually.

Ages 6 – 9

This drop-off program is designed to give your child the opportunity to get creative! They will design a variety of projects based on a monthly theme. Outdoor activities will be included when weather permits. Sign up for one or multiple sessions.

Ages 5 – 11 with adult companion

Children will use their creativity to make two penguin ornaments! Kathy Woodruff from Busy Beaver will assist the children and their grown-ups as they work together on this unique project. All supplies provided. Please register each child attending.

What can you do in a winter garden after sunset? Let’s find out! We will meet at the school parking lot and hike to the Grow Together Garden next to the Grant Nature Buildings for some activities and playtime. If needed, we will be using the Grant Nature Buildings as our indoor space. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Kick off the holiday season and spend a relaxing evening creating beautiful fused glass ornaments perfect for gifting or adding to your own holiday décor. You’ll create three unique ornaments during this beginner-friendly class, choosing from a variety of styles, colors, and designs.
