Ages 0 – 5 years with adult companion
Your leader will point out seasonal changes and other natural points of interest in the parks. Hikes can be on a natural or paved path depending on location. This is a Tools to Trek program. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking.

Junior Explorers

Outdoor play is vital to child development and well-being. This program, designed to allow children to interact with nature in unique ways, teaches children about nature and the outdoors. Activities include discovery, challenges and games. We occasionally celebrate the last session of the season with a campfire and s’mores. Please let us know if your child has any dietary restrictions by answering the custom questions upon registration.

Conservation Crew: Seed Nursery Care
Ages 12 – 18
The native seed nursery needs some care this spring to ensure the plants thrive. Crew members will be helping with weeding out nonnative and aggressive plants. Please come prepared for the weather. All Conservation Crew sessions count as service hours.

Tennis League – Men’s Advanced

Join a Park District tennis league and play tennis in the parks this spring! Several levels of play allow opportunities for all abilities. All leagues are 10 weeks long.

Injury Prevention Workshop with Airrosti
Ages 16 and up (under 18 requires adult companion)
Airrosti’s Adelle Scott, Sr. Recovery Specialist, will teach you how to manage, reduce and eliminate musculoskeletal pain through preventative self-myofascial release techniques using a foam roller, lacrosse ball, and banded exercises. This class will focus on injury prevention. An optional, free range-of-motion health assessment administered by Airrosti Rehab Center, LLC is available. Any additional follow-up or inquiries on the advice given will need to be conducted with Airrosti directly. CWPD is not able to provide any advice on further steps in treatment planning.

Hike with a Naturalist

Join us on a stroll through your park! A naturalist will point out seasonal changes and discuss the wildlife we observe. Hike is on a natural path.

Teddy Bear Picnic in the Park
All ages
Spread out on the Smith House lawn to enjoy a fun and relaxing early spring evening with your family and stuffed furry friends! Bring your own dinner and/or enjoy free light refreshments while supplies last. The event will include themed crafts, games and a scavenger hunt. No pets, please. Please note: allergens will be present in some of the free refreshments and other participants’ meals.

Land-based Crafting: Cold Process Soap
Ages 18 and up
Join Beth Bridgeman, a full-time maker and weaver from Yellow Springs, Ohio in two unique workshop offerings this spring! We will learn to make soap through cold processing, using lye and fat to build our bars as well as essential oils and natural colorants. Participants will walk away with 8 – 10 bars of gentle, natural and handmade soap along with information, history and the confidence to make your own soap at home. All materials are included. Light refreshments will be provided.

Beautiful Blooms Wildflower Tour

These tiny treasures can only be seen for a short time! An instructor will lead you along the path to search for all the spring wildflowers the forests have to offer. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Ages 16 and up
Build your own whimsical terracotta tower overflowing with vibrant succulents and natural accents. This fun, hands-on workshop with Now and Zen DIY lets you design a unique vertical garden that’s eye-catching, space-saving and easy to care for — the perfect blend of creativity and charm!

Method Studio’s Megan Lees leads these yoga classes for all levels. Classes include warm-up, breath work, standing poses, flowing poses and end with relaxation.

Crafts with Nature – Birds!
Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion
Let’s get together and do a nature craft! We will complete crafts with nature/sensory themes, read stories, play games and take short hikes in the park — all to spark a love of nature in our youngest community members! The theme for April is ‘Birds!’. This program is limited to one adult companion per registrant.

Gentle Yoga C
Ages 18 and up
Tuesdays, April 14 – May 19
Join us for a gentler, more adaptable yoga program. This class will feature additional guidance, modifications and props to assist in supporting postures and a slower pace. Taught by certified yoga instructor Kathleen Crosby. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Ohio Young Birders Club Chapter Meeting

Join the OYBC Southwest Chapter! Kettering PRCA and Centerville-Washington Park District are collaborating to bring the joy of bird watching to our youth through the Ohio Young Birders Club. Light snacks are provided. Participants must become members of the Ohio Young Birders Club.

Stemily Studios: Mosaic Bird Ornaments
Ages 7 – 12
Get ready to spread your creative wings! In this fun, hands-on class, kids will design and make their very own bird mosaic ornament. Using colorful acrylic tiles and a wooden bird base, each artist will create a one-of-a-kind design to take home and hang up for everyone to see.
