Backyard Birding Basics
Ages 14 and up
We will learn about the species that visit our yards, as well as their favorite food sources, talk about the ways to feed these feathered friends, and how to practice bird conservation in our whole yard, from brush piles and water sources to keeping birds safe from window collisions. We will end the program by building your own birdseed blend. Allergen warning: Peanuts will be present at this program.

Oakley and Owlexander are loose in the parks again! The two took off in hopes of finding all their friends at their favorite parks. Solve the riddles to find them hidden in the parks and share your pictures with us on Facebook for a chance to win the grand champion hide-and-seek prize!

Brushstrokes and Blooms Paint Class
Ages 11 – 16
Get creative this spring with watercolor! Use watercolor brush pens to bring a pre-outlined floral scene to life while you enjoy breakfast treats with friends! All supplies included, participants will get to keep their watercolor paint pen set.

Outdoor play is vital to child development and well-being. This program, designed to allow children to interact with nature in unique ways, teaches children about nature and the outdoors. Activities include discovery, challenges and games. We occasionally celebrate the last session of the season with a campfire and s’mores. Please let us know if your child has any dietary restrictions by answering the custom questions upon registration.

Art & Imagination
Ages 6 – 9
This drop-off program is designed to give your child the opportunity to get creative! They will design a variety of projects based on a monthly theme. Outdoor activities will be included when weather permits. Sign up for one or multiple sessions.

Early Adventures
Ages 0 – 5 years with adult companion
Your leader will point out seasonal changes and other natural points of interest in the parks. Hikes can be on a natural or paved path depending on location. This is a Tools to Trek program. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking.

Conservation Crew: Seed Nursery Care
Ages 12 – 18
The native seed nursery needs some care this spring to ensure the plants thrive. Crew members will be helping with weeding out nonnative and aggressive plants. Please come prepared for the weather. All Conservation Crew sessions count as service hours.

Injury Prevention Workshop with Airrosti
Ages 16 and up (under 18 requires adult companion)
Airrosti’s Adelle Scott, Sr. Recovery Specialist, will teach you how to manage, reduce and eliminate musculoskeletal pain through preventative self-myofascial release techniques using a foam roller, lacrosse ball, and banded exercises. This class will focus on injury prevention. An optional, free range-of-motion health assessment administered by Airrosti Rehab Center, LLC is available. Any additional follow-up or inquiries on the advice given will need to be conducted with Airrosti directly. CWPD is not able to provide any advice on further steps in treatment planning.

Hike with a Naturalist

Join us on a stroll through your park! A naturalist will point out seasonal changes and discuss the wildlife we observe. Hike is on a natural path.

Teddy Bear Picnic in the Park
All ages
Spread out on the Smith House lawn to enjoy a fun and relaxing early spring evening with your family and stuffed furry friends! Bring your own dinner and/or enjoy free light refreshments while supplies last. The event will include themed crafts, games and a scavenger hunt. No pets, please. Please note: allergens will be present in some of the free refreshments and other participants’ meals.

Land-based Crafting: Cold Process Soap
Ages 18 and up
Location has changed to the Bill Yeck Park Smith House.
Join Beth Bridgeman, a full-time maker and weaver from Yellow Springs, Ohio in two unique workshop offerings this spring! We will learn to make soap through cold processing, using lye and fat to build our bars as well as essential oils and natural colorants. Participants will walk away with 8 – 10 bars of gentle, natural and handmade soap along with information, history and the confidence to make your own soap at home. All materials are included. Light refreshments will be provided.
