Styrofoam Recycling Event
All ages
Bring your Styrofoam to Activity Center Park. Volunteers will unload your vehicle — you won’t even need to get out of your car! This event is open to the public, regardless of where you live. If you are interested in dropping off Styrofoam, please make sure you are following the guidelines listed below:
* Styrofoam must be clean
* Clean food containers will be accepted. These must be scrubbed out.
* No stickers or tape
Winter Mindfulness
Ages 16 and up
This sensory-friendly space will include gentle movement, mindful crafts and an easy hike. We will end the evening gathered around a fire to take in beauty of the nature park together. Bring a friend, a partner, or travel solo for this important opportunity to slow down and just BE!

Outdoor Explorers
Ages 9 – 12
Mondays, January 6 – February 10
Children will learn about nature and the outdoors in this program designed to allow children to interact with nature in unique ways. Activities include discovery, challenges and games. We occasionally celebrate the last session of the season with a campfire and s’mores. Please let us know if your child has any dietary restrictions by answering the custom questions upon registration.

Gentle Yoga
Ages 18 and up
Tuesdays, January 7 – February 25
Join us for a gentler, more adaptable yoga program. This class will feature additional guidance, modifications and props to assist in supporting postures and a slower pace. Taught by certified yoga instructor Kathleen Crosby. This is an eight-week session. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Junior Explorers

Spot the Squirrels Scavenger Hunt
All ages
Thursday, January 9 – Thursday, February 13
Each week, participants will receive a clue to go out in your parks to search for the painted squirrels. Squirrels will only be hiding at each park for one week! Mark their numbers and where you found them on the recording sheet. Turn in your sheets for a prize. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite!

Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt
Ages 6 – 10
There are candy canes hidden around the park! Bring your flashlight and help us find them. First, we’ll decorate a bag to collect the candy canes, then we’ll race to hunt for them. There will also be other candy cane themed activities to partake in. Free hot chocolate will be provided! This is a drop-off program. Staff will be assigned to assist with groups of participants.

Pet Pros: All About Reptiles
Recommended for families with children ages 6+
This month, we’ve invited experts from Arrowhead Reptile Rescue (and some of their stunning rescue reptiles) to teach about responsible reptile ownership! This program is perfect for anyone, from those curious about pet reptiles to those with a home already slithering with them! (Note: This is NOT an adoption event. However, those interested in adopting can pick up information on taking the next steps!)

Introduction to Crochet
Ages 16 and up
This introductory-level crochet class will cover the basic stitches and techniques needed to create a crochet coaster. Each participant will receive a skein of environmentally-friendly yarn and a crochet hook to keep. No previous experience is needed to participate.

Light Hike: Constellations
All ages
Drop in anytime from 6 – 7 p.m. for a lighted hike! In addition to the lights on the paved path, there will be constellations to light up with a black light. Bring your own flashlight. Black light flashlights will be available to borrow. This is a Tools to Trek program. This hike takes place on a paved path.
Beginner Naturalists Club: Incredible Ice
Ages 3 – 6 years with adult companion
CWPD is looking for our newest generation of naturalists! This program is an opportunity for participants to explore Bill Yeck through their five senses, just like naturalists! Each month will cover a different, exciting topic. The theme for January is Incredible Ice!

Create Together Workshop with Now and Zen
Ages 6 and up with an adult companion (Adults can register as well to create their own terrarium)
This adult and child sand art workshop is a perfect opportunity to have a fun bonding experience with your favorite little one! Kids and adults alike will enjoy being creative with sand art — with the bonus of adding live air plants. All materials are included for this fun project, including the choice of a vertical or horizontal vessel.

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup Workshop
Ages 8 – 15
Warm up on a winter day! Learn a new skill with Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling! Children will make the ultimate comfort food — egg noodles from scratch — for chicken noodle soup. Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this class.

Yoga in the Park D
Ages 18 and up
Mondays, January 13 – February 17
Method Studio’s Megan Lees leads these yoga classes for all levels. Classes include warm-up, breath work, standing poses, flowing poses and end with relaxation.

Crafts with Nature: Bug Homes
Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion
Let’s get together and do a nature craft! We will complete crafts with nature/sensory themes, read stories, play games and take short hikes in the park. The theme for January is ‘Bug Homes’. This program is limited to one adult companion per registrant. The Crafts with Nature January programs are identical, please only select one. If weather is adverse or chilly, we may not go on the hike. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking. Strollers are not recommended at parks with natural terrain.
