Adapted Action Day
All ages (must be 8 and up for archery)
Join us for our annual Adapted Action Day! Those with accessibility or special needs (and families) are invited to network with other families while enjoying recreational activities for all abilities! Participate in archery, kickball, fishing, sidewalk chalk, adapted biking, an inclusion tent, lawn games and crafts! Thanks to various sponsorships, the 6th annual Adapted Action Day will be bigger and better than ever!
Registration is requested, but not required.
Campfire Cupcakes
Ages 6– 10
Join instructor Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling to build your own cupcake campfire! We will make vanilla cupcakes and decorate the tops with an edible campfire. Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this class

Sunday Jams at the Smith House
All ages
Enjoy two fun-filled back-to-back hours of your favorite bee-boppin’ toe-tappin’ favorites, oldies and, of course, The Centerville Boogie-Woogie. This Sunday afternoon with local pianist Jimmy Douglass is sure to rock your socks off. Participants can also enjoy a variety of free refreshments during the event. Bring your own picnic blanket or lawn chair.
Registration is not required, but registered participants will receive reminder and/or cancellation emails.
The CWPD 500
Ages 5 – 9 with adult companion
Join us for a “CWPD 500” race around the park! Create your own cardboard race car! We will provide kits for you to pick up and decorate your cars beforehand! Race along the route while completing various pit stops to cross the finish line! Please register each child you would like to have create a cardboard race car.

Crafts with Nature
Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion
We will complete crafts with sensory themes and take short hikes in the park! This program is limited to one adult companion per registrant. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking. Strollers are not recommended at parks with natural terrain. The Crafts with Nature September programs are identical, please only select one.

Gentle Yoga
Ages 18 and up
Tuesdays, September 17 – October 22
Join us for a gentler, more adaptable yoga program. This class will feature additional guidance, modifications and props to assist in supporting postures and a slower pace. Taught by certified yoga instructor Kathleen Crosby. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Pet Pros: All About House Rabbits
All ages
This month, we’ve invited experts from the Dayton House Rabbit Society (and some of their lovable rabbits) to teach about rabbit ownership! This program is perfect for anyone, from those curious about bunnies to those with a home already hopping with them! (Note: This is NOT an adoption event. However, those interested in adopting can pick up information on taking the next steps!)

Preschool Nature Series: Big Trees
Ages 3 – 5 with adult companion
Trees are all around us! Become an expert on all things trees as you explore the park. Learn about identifiable characteristics of trees and all about the seeds they produce.

Glass Fusing: Fall Birch Trees
Ages 16 and up
Usher in the colors of fall through a 10.75″ square of glass you design with a beautiful fall birch tree scene. Kathy Woodruff from Busy Beaver will lead participants through our biggest glass fusing project of the season!

Prairie Power: Seed Collection
All ages
Learn about the power of prairie plants and assist the CWPD staff in harvesting popular species. Seeds harvested will be used in reseeding other habitats or handed out to the community. Families can take some seeds home to plant in their garden. This is a Tools to Trek program.

September Stress Relief
Ages 16 and up
Try a new stress-relieving hobby or craft! There will be a few options to try. Best of all, enjoy the golden hour and beautiful colors of the September sunset over the meadow. Please be sure to note any allergies.

Archery Day
All ages
We are teaming up with the Kettering Recreation Complex and the Washington Township RecPlex for an afternoon of archery! Join us for blow-up archery, food trucks, various vendors and much more! During the event, walk-up registrations for an archery class sampler on the range will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registration is not required but is recommended.
Time Trail Tour
Recommended for ages 10 and up
Meet in the Forest Field Park rear parking lot.
Eagle Scout Candidate Connor Kiss will lead a guided walk through the Bill Yeck Time Trail and discuss the cataloging project he undertook for CWPD. Connor will point out differences between the sections and identify plant species found within the Time Trail. A rain date is scheduled for September 22 if needed.

Watercolor Succulent Plants Class
Ages 18 and up
We will create succulent plant-themed watercolor paintings utilizing basic brush and watercolor techniques. We will use studio materials. Leave the class with your finished painting. This class is for beginner or intermediate artists!

Composting Basics
Ages 18 and up
Sunday, September 22 (Beginner level) AND/OR Sunday, October 13 (Intermediate level)
Join Master Recycler Andi Van Sickle for this incredible two-part program! Part one will guide you through the benefits of composting for yourself and for the planet. Part two will share more in-depth composting techniques.
