Bike Centerville Community Ride A

Take advantage of this opportunity to explore Centerville and Washington Township by bicycle. The ride will be led by trained and experienced bike leaders and will help you learn routes to shopping, parks and more! Rides will be an easy-paced 10 to 15 miles that start and end at a park.

Fitness Yoga B

You will get it all in one fitness class — a challenging workout, yoga practice, as well as mindfulness and functional movement for vitality and longevity. All levels are welcome. Taught by certified yoga instructor Dan Loofboro. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Beginner Archery

We will learn the basics of NASP competition-style archery and put the skills learned to practice. No experience is required! By the end of the program, you’ll be firing arrows on your own and competing in friendly competitive games to enhance learning! All equipment is provided. Flower Hammering: Natural Dye Prints

Ages 14 and up

 

Create dynamic process art that preserves stunning summer flower hues. Learn how to decorate a variety of materials with these natural dyes. Make a set of tea towels, a tote bag or wall art. Participants will use a hammer and physical strength to create their artwork. No experience is needed to participate.

Family Birdwatching Walk

Let’s look for birds together on this slow-paced walk! We will keep a list of what we see and the habitat in which we observe them. Participants will learn about basic bird identification and compare observations between the meadow and forest habitats. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Firefly Yoga

Enjoy a relaxing night of yoga with Method Yoga Studio’s Megan Lees while we watch the park sparkle! Learn about the bioluminescence of the firefly after practicing breathwork, standing poses, flowing poses and ending with relaxation surrounded by the glittering forest.

Summer Solstice Appreciation Night

Celebrate the longest day of the year with the Centerville-Washington Park District and the Washington-Centerville Public Library. This evening will feature poetry around the campfire.

 

Registration is not required; however, registered participants will receive weather updates by email, if necessary.

Critters & Crawlers in the Garden

From wriggly worms and crawly millipedes, to buzzing bees and leaping grasshoppers, the garden is full of critters! At this fun-filled preschool program, you will get hands-on with the creatures that call gardens home. Read stories, meet some garden critters, and go on a BIG backyard bug search! All participants will also get to plant a flower to take home in their very own flower pot!

Butterfly Survey

Recommended for ages 8 and up

 

Help contribute to research by joining the naturalist on butterfly surveys. Identify and count butterflies while observing other seasonal wildlife as we stroll. No experience is necessary. Trail is approximately one mile in length on uneven terrain. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Watercolor – Drawing with a Paintbrush

In this workshop, we are going to create loose watercolor botanical drawings. We will start with a quick charcoal value study, then a black and white wwateatercolor, and wrap up with an expressive full-color watercolor botanical. Leave the class with three versions of your botanical. All skill levels are welcome! All equipment will be provided.

Color Splash…Into Summer!

Bring white cotton (100% cotton works best) garments to dye. We will help you turn them into one-of-a-kind tie-dye works of art. Be sure to wear something you don’t mind getting messy! After you create your project, cool off in the sprayground and with Kona Ice!

Pickleball League Any Doubles My Teen & Me A

Activity Center Park 221 N. Main St., Centerville, OH, United States

Ages 12 – 17 plus a family member over 21

 

Join a Park District pickleball league and play pickleball in the parks this summer! All leagues are six weeks long. Six Franklin X-40 pickleballs per team are included and can be picked up from Park District Headquarters prior to league play. This for-fun league is open to any doubles teams (men’s, women’s, or mixed doubles) comprised of a teen and their parent/guardian or other close family member over the age of 21. Please register your teen and list the participating family member in the questions. Both players must have an online account set up on the same household profile.

Preschool Play Yard

Preschoolers will discover secret trails and hidden islands, find creek treasures, participate in hands-on science experiments, and create frame-worthy crafts at The Enchanted Forest! Other activities will include a magical scavenger hunt, silly obstacle courses and interactive story times! This program is held in partnership with the South Metro Optimist of Centerville Women’s Club.
