Did you play Oregon Trail as a child? Join the Park District and Centerville-Washington History to experience a simulation of Centerville’s founders! Your family will learn of Washington Township’s early citizens and learn about the hardships they faced traveling to the area! Pack your wagons, encounter scenarios and challenges and hunt for food. The trail is approximately one mile in length on a crushed limestone path.

Movie Party in the Park: Star Wars, The Clone Wars

May the fourth be with you! Enjoy an evening in the park watching the animated 2008 movie “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” — perfect for any age Star Wars fan. We will start out with interactive games and crafts before showing the movie under the stars. Grab dinner from Claybourne Grill and have Kona Ice for dessert or bring your own dinner and snacks. Please bring chairs and/or blankets for seating. (This movie is rated PG.)

Bike Centerville Community Ride A

Concept Park 345 Clareridge Lane, Centerville, OH

Ages 18 and up

 

Take advantage of this opportunity to explore Centerville and Washington Township by bicycle. The ride will be led by trained and experienced bike leaders and will help you learn routes to shopping, parks and more! Rides will be an easy-paced 10 to 15 miles that start and end at a park.

Young Birders Club Chapter Meeting

Bird watching and identification is fascinating. You will walk away with a greater knowledge of birds and their role in the ecosystem. Club activities are based on participant feedback, so you direct the focus of study. A light snack is included. Participants must be members of the Ohio Young Birders Club.

Porch Stitching: Watercolor Embroidery (Adults)

Come and enjoy the warm weather on the porch! We will be combining both watercolor and embroidery for a unique piece of mixed-media art. The program will cover the basics of watercolor on fabric and simple embroidery. No previous experience is needed to participate!

World Migratory Bird Walk

Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day on a leisurely walk through the park to focus on bird identification. Bring binoculars if you have them; a limited supply will be available to borrow. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Sunshine and Feathers Adapted Fun Run

Participants can enjoy the paved path at the Kennard Nature Nook while stopping at various booths along the way. Each booth will have interactive games, giveaways, and all things sunshine and feathers! The event falls on World Migratory Bird Day and will feature birding activities for all! The Kennard Nature Nook will also have various activities. Participants are encouraged to travel along the path visiting booths at their own pace. The last time to start the route is noon. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Create Together Workshop with Now and Zen

Ages 6 and up with an adult companion (Adults can register in addition to create their own terrarium)

 

Kids and adults alike will enjoy being creative with sand art — with the bonus of adding live air plants. All materials are included for this fun project, including the choice of a vertical or horizontal vessel.

Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking. Strollers are not recommended at parks with natural terrain.
