Get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air while meeting other walking enthusiasts. These are self-guided walks around your community parks! Walking helps maintain a healthy weight, increases energy, lifts your spirits, strengthens memory and protects from heart disease and high blood pressure.

Tuesdays & Fridays, December 2 – February 27
Meet up with other trail trekking enthusiasts to trek through the parks through this self-guided meet-up program! Sign up to rent Nordic poles if you want to try trekking before you purchase your own set. You will be contacted to sign a borrower’s permit and pick up your set for the fall. A limited number of rental poles are available.
There is no registration deadline for this program. Join anytime! Note: Tuesday Trail Trekking locations will be the same as the A Walk in the Park program.

Staff and volunteers will lead groups at different paces. Hike for Your Health is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and get to know some of your parks better. All hikes are on natural trails. Please wear appropriate shoes for trails that may be muddy or slick.

Thursday, January 8 – Wednesday, February 18
Spot, the Park District Snowman, is excited to go owling in the parks! Whoooo knew we had so many! Each week, participants will receive a clue to go out in your parks to search for the owls. Owls will only be hiding at each park for one week! Scan the QR code on the sign next to Spot the Snowman to log which owls were in the park. Each week that you log owls gets you another entry into our raffle for some owl-themed prizes! After the hunt, an owl round-up with images of each owl will be emailed to you so you can vote for your favorite entry.
Registration deadline: Wednesday, February 11 (Clues are emailed every Thursday. Registering late may mean you miss some of the clues)
Evergreen Camp
Ages 6 – 12
A day off from school means a day of fun and adventures at camp! Your camper will enjoy nature-based activities, winter hikes, playground play, indoor warm-up activities, games and more! See the beauty of winter at Activity Center Park, and stay active during this one-day camp.

Brunch Break
Ages 8 – 15
Enjoy the day off school with a waffle party! Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling will guide participants through making a delicious brunch with waffles and bacon. Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this class.

Serene Scenes Paint Night
Ages 16 and up
Settle in for a cozy, creative evening! Use watercolor brush pens to bring a beautifully pre-outlined wintery scene to life, then sip and snack on a variety of refreshments in a relaxing atmosphere. All supplies included, participants will get to keep their watercolor paint pen set.

Fur vs. Feathers
All ages
Fur or feathers? Which do you prefer for keeping warm in the winter? We will discuss how wildlife have adapted to the cold winter months in Ohio. Then, we will go out for a short hike. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Owlexander’s Cinema: Arctic Wildlife Night
Ages 5 – 10
Owlexander is holding a movie night, and he’s inviting his friends to join him for a fun-filled evening! We will kick off the night learning about arctic wildlife and the adaptations that help them thrive. Then, we will play games, make crafts and prepare some salty snacks. To end the night, we will settle in for a kid-friendly movie featuring bears and other cold-weather critters!

Dance Fitness with Emily
Ages 18 and up
Tuesdays, January 20 – February 24
We dance to various styles of music which provides a good mix of low to high-intensity moves. Instructor Emily Chandler strives to make this class high-energy and a lot of fun! We can guarantee you’ll leave this class feeling great! Please bring a bottle of water.

I Am Groot Terrarium
Ages 6 and up with an adult companion (Adults can register as well to create their own terrarium.)
You’ll build a magical little world with everyone’s favorite tree hero, Groot! We’ll provide all the supplies—just bring your imagination and love for all things Groot! A grown-up needs to come along to help save the galaxy (and maybe the glue), and if they want to make a terrarium too, don’t forget to sign up both the child and the adult.

Owl Walk
All ages
While most of us are staying inside and warm in January, our local owls are active! We will hike the purple trail and listen for owl calls. This is a Tools to Trek program.
