Grab your capes and your hiking shoes and get ready to learn about our home and how we can take care of it. This earth-focused week will be full of creative projects and activities to help us care for the earth and start making a difference — because you’re never too old or young to be an earth superhero.

Combine outdoor adventure and nature education with this week-long camp. Adventure Camp focuses on immersion in the outdoors and works to build confidence through activities, outdoor skills, tree climbing with EarthJoy, hiking, creeking and a field trip to Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm.

Families are invited to join us outside to listen to a story brought to you by the Washington-Centerville Public Library! Participate in nature-themed activities following the story. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on. All sessions are Tools to Trek programs.

We are focusing on the final frontier this week! We are going to be exploring planets, stars, and rockets for some exploration inspiration. Along the way, we are going to be making some really cool crafts and artwork — fun ways to develop our motor skills! What will we discover in the great unknown? Guest artist Kristin Bailey of the Purple Paintbrush, LLC. will join us this week too! Please dress in old clothing, and we will provide aprons for especially messy crafts.

Painting in the Landscape
Ages 16 and up
Join Kristin Bailey from Purple Paintbrush LLC for a relaxing evening overlooking the meadow. No painting experience is required. This class is an enjoyable way to learn some color theory, basic drawing and observational painting with helpful tips and guidance!

Bee Day Party

Happy Birthday, bees! Join us for bee crafts, snacks, and activities. Take a closer look at our honey bee hive. Learn about basic beekeeping and how to support native bees. Did you know Ohio has over 400 recorded species of bees?
AccessAbility Program: A collaboration between the Centerville-Washington Park District, Washington-Centerville Public Library and the Washington Township Recreation Center! AccessAbility rotates locations based on the monthly host. Activities will be adapted to give participants of all ages and abilities an enriching sensory, social and physical experience.

Sunday Sundaes: Americana Kick Off

Kick off red, white and blue week with live music from the Mountain Dulcimer Society of Dayton and a free sundae at the Smith House! Enjoy a relaxing summer afternoon with music, yard games and themed crafts. Bring your own picnic blanket or lawn chair.

Let’s explore all the nature above our heads. There are many critters that live in our treetops. We will spend the week learning all about which animals can fly and how they use flight to help them survive.

Early Adventures
Ages 0 – 5 years with adult companion
These exploratory hikes foster curiosity and confidence in young children. Your leader will point out seasonal changes and other natural points of interest in the parks. Hike is on a natural path. This is a Tools to Trek program. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking.
