Crafts with Nature Summer Series

Gather each month in the evenings to make some nature crafts! We will complete crafts with nature/sensory themes, read stories, play games and take short hikes in the park. The theme for June is ‘Fabulous Fungi!’. This program is limited to one adult companion per registrant. If your child is not walking, backpacks and front carriers are appropriate. Strollers are not recommended for parks with natural terrain.

Needle Felting Dryer Balls

Needle felt and upgrade your laundry routine all at once! We will cover the basics of needle felting and decorate a set of environmentally friendly dryer balls. They can be used instead of dryer sheets as a more natural and sustainable alternative. No prior experience is needed and all supplies will be provided.

Firefly Yoga

Enjoy a relaxing night of yoga with Method Yoga Studio’s Megan Lees while we watch the park sparkle! Learn about the bioluminescence of the firefly after practicing breathwork, standing poses, flowing poses and ending with relaxation surrounded by the glittering forest.

Firefly Hike

There is no better way to explore the unique life of fireflies than hiking through the park during peak firefly season. After a brief introduction about fireflies, we will go on a hike and watch as fireflies illuminate the space around us! Hike is on a natural path. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Young Birders Club Meeting

Kettering PRCA and Centerville-Washington Park District are collaborating to bring the joy of bird watching to our youth.

 

Bird watching and identification is a fun and rewarding hobby and also a great place to make friends. Light snacks are provided. Participants must become members of the Ohio Young Birders Club and be between the ages of 12 and 18.

Pottery Fun in the Sun

Join Kristin of Purple Paintbrush for a new family pottery painting workshop. Participants will paint their choice of two beach-inspired pottery pieces using colorful glazes. Enjoy lemonade and light refreshments while creating something special together. Please note that each painter must be registered. Additional pieces will not be available for purchase on the day of the workshop, so please register accordingly.

Pickleball League Any Doubles My Teen & Me A

This for-fun league is open to any doubles teams (men’s, women’s, or mixed doubles) comprised of a teen and their parent/guardian or other close family member over the age of 21. Please register your teen and list the participating family member in the questions. Please note, this is a league designed for players with a base understanding of pickleball. No instruction/lessons are included in the league.

We’re inviting our littlest campers to spend mornings at the park participating in a variety of recreation activities tied to each week’s theme. Splish, splash and laugh this week with a variety of water-themed games and crafts such as bubble activities and duck pond sensory stations. This week will also include a visit from CWPD naturalists focusing on our local streams and fish!

Fossil Finders

Uncover the wonders of the prehistoric world! Campers will create “rawr-some” dinosaur crafts and embark on dino-themed games such as a dino stomp obstacle course, pretending to dodge meteors, lava and other dinosaurs! Special activities this week will include a fossil scavenger hunt and a naturalist presentation about fossils. Campers will also make their own fossils.

In this hands-on cooking camp with Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling, budding chefs will learn how to transform freshly harvested ingredients into delicious, simple dishes that celebrate the season. From garden to plate, participants will explore where their food comes from, practice basic cooking skills and enjoy tasting the vibrant flavors of local summer harvests. Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this camp.
