Ages 3 – 5 with adult companion

From wriggly worms and crawly millipedes, to buzzing bees and leaping grasshoppers, the garden is full of critters! At this fun-filled preschool program, you will get hands-on with the creatures that call gardens home. Read stories, meet some garden critters, and go on a BIG backyard bug search! All participants will also get to plant a flower to take home in their very own flower pot!

Recommended for ages 8 and up

Help contribute to research by joining the naturalist on butterfly surveys. Identify and count butterflies while observing other seasonal wildlife as we stroll. No experience is necessary. Trail is approximately one mile in length on uneven terrain. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Ages 18 and up

In this workshop, we are going to create loose watercolor botanical drawings. We will start with a quick charcoal value study, then a black and white wwateatercolor, and wrap up with an expressive full-color watercolor botanical. Leave the class with three versions of your botanical. All skill levels are welcome! All equipment will be provided.

All ages

Bring white cotton (100% cotton works best) garments to dye. We will help you turn them into one-of-a-kind tie-dye works of art. Be sure to wear something you don’t mind getting messy! After you create your project, cool off in the sprayground and with Kona Ice!

Ages 18 and up

Take advantage of this opportunity to explore Centerville and Washington Township by bicycle. The ride will be led by trained and experienced bike leaders and will help you learn routes to shopping, parks and more! Rides will be an easy-paced 10 to 15 miles that start and end at a park.

Ages 12 – 17 plus a family member over 21

Join a Park District pickleball league and play pickleball in the parks this summer! All leagues are six weeks long. Six Franklin X-40 pickleballs per team are included and can be picked up from Park District Headquarters prior to league play. This for-fun league is open to any doubles teams (men’s, women’s, or mixed doubles) comprised of a teen and their parent/guardian or other close family member over the age of 21. Please register your teen and list the participating family member in the questions. Both players must have an online account set up on the same household profile.

Ages 4 – 5

Preschoolers will discover secret trails and hidden islands, find creek treasures, participate in hands-on science experiments, and create frame-worthy crafts at The Enchanted Forest! Other activities will include a magical scavenger hunt, silly obstacle courses and interactive story times! This program is held in partnership with the South Metro Optimist of Centerville Women’s Club.

Ages 12 – 17

Join Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling for an exciting teen summer camp cooking series! We will embark on a delicious journey around the globe! In each session, we’ll explore and create iconic dishes like vibrant Mexican tacos, handmade Italian pasta, fresh Asian sushi, and savory Mediterranean hummus with pita. Perfect for budding chefs eager to expand their culinary skills and taste the world from the comfort of the kitchen! Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this camp.

Mondays, June 23 – July 28

Join a Park District pickleball league and play pickleball in the parks this summer! All leagues are weeks long. Six Franklin X-40 pickleballs per team are included and can be picked up from Park District Headquarters prior to league play. This for-fun league is open to any doubles teams (men’s, women’s or mixed doubles) at the intermediate level. Please note, this is a league designed for players with a strong understanding of pickleball rules, and who are at an intermediate or higher level of competition. No instruction/lessons are included in the league.

Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion

We will complete crafts with nature/sensory themes, read stories, play games and take short hikes in the park — all to spark a love of nature in our youngest community members! This program is limited to one adult companion per registrant. If your child is not walking, backpacks and front carriers are appropriate. Strollers are not recommended for parks with natural terrain.

The lifecycles of our local wildlife are fascinating! Search for life stages and win a prize. Along the way, learn about the importance of each stage and how it contributes to the ecosystem.

Join a Park District pickleball league and play pickleball in the parks this summer! All leagues are 6 weeks long. Six Franklin X-40 pickleballs per team are included and can be picked up from Park District Headquarters prior to league play. Please note, this is a league designed for players with a strong understanding of pickleball rules, and who are at an intermediate level of competition. No instruction/lessons are included in the league.

Tuesdays, June 24 – July 29

Join a Park District pickleball league and play pickleball in the parks this summer! All leagues are 6 weeks long. Six Franklin X-40 pickleballs per team are included and can be picked up from Park District Headquarters prior to league play. This for-fun league is open to any doubles teams (men’s, women’s, or mixed doubles) at the advanced level. Please note, this is a league designed for players with a strong understanding of pickleball rules, and who are at an advanced level of competition. This is our highest level league at this time. No instruction/lessons are included in the league.

We want to know what bird species are common along Bill Yeck Park’s Brown Trail. We will count all the birds we see and hear along the path. If you have binoculars, bring them. A limited supply will be available to borrow.
