We will have crafts, nature lessons, a night hike to search for nocturnal friends, and s’mores around the campfire! Flush restrooms are on site. We will provide s’mores supplies, but no other food or camping gear. No pets, please.

Summer Archery A
Ages 8 – 14
We will learn the basics of NASP competition-style archery and put the skills learned to practice. Participants will compete against each other in a friendly competition of shooting arrows at the same target, mimicking the classic outdoor game, Tag. All equipment is provided.

Nature Fun: An Outdoor Family Storytime
All ages
Mondays, June 26, July 10 & 24, August 14 & 28
Families are invited to join us outside to listen to a story brought to you by the Washington-Centerville Public Library! Participate in nature-themed activities following the story. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on.
Registration is not required, but is recommended.
Neighborhood Park Party
All ages
Meet your neighbors and kick off the week with a fun evening in the park! We will bring big games, activities and light refreshments for everyone to enjoy.
Registration is not required, but registered participants will receive reminder and/or cancellation emails.
Kids Night Out: Party in the USA!
Ages 4 – 8
Jump into the patriotic spirit with classic games, face painting and tie-dye! We will decorate bikes and helmets for an Americana Children’s Bike Parade around the park. Decorating supplies are provided, but you may bring your own as well. The bike parade will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Teen Drawing Camp

Teen Drawing Camp is back this summer with more fun drawing activities! In addition to drawing, cartooning, still life, games, and portraiture, this summer students will get to explore the world of art journaling and create their own functional drawing ink to take home! Kristin Bailey from Purple Paintbrush LLC will lead a variety of fan-favorite and brand-new projects.

Let’s Meet Up: Nature Playce
All ages
Meet other parents/caregivers and their children. Stop by the Kennard Nature Nook for a free snack. Then, explore the Mark Kreusch Nature Playce during an unstructured and casual meet-up! An activity will be planned that children can participate in before or after unstructured playtime. This is not a drop-off program; parents/caregivers are required to stay with their children.

Imposters! Invasive Species Hiding in Plain Sight
Ages 18 and up
Join us on a guided hike to learn about invasive species that closely resemble our native plants and insects. Discover how these imposters impact Ohio wildlife and how we control common invasive species in our parks. You will learn how to spot these imposters and what you can do at home to keep them at bay.

Intergenerational Series: Popsicles & Playtime
Ages 4 – 7 with grandparent(s)
Cool off from the summer heat with a frozen treat! Make a new popsicle recipe to take home and enjoy later! Participants will play indoor or outdoor games depending on the weather. The Intergenerational Series is only for grandparents and their grandchildren. Parents and other caregivers may attend any of our other programs.

Light Up the Night! Mini Fun Run
All ages
Join us at Schoolhouse Park for a fun run that will light up the night! Follow the half-mile route through the park on a path lined with colorful lights. We will learn all about bioluminescence. Bring your favorite light-up gear, and we will have glow bracelets at our welcome table. Activities in the welcome area will run until dark. This event is sponsored by Dayton Children’s Hospital.
Centerville Farmers Market
The Centerville Farmers Market is sponsored by the City of Centerville and the Centerville-Washington Park District. It will feature high-quality homegrown produce and products.

Drawing Birds

We will review basic drawing techniques; gesture drawing, proportion and shading. Then we will apply these techniques to drawing birds!
