Nature Fun: An Outdoor Family Storytime
All ages
Mondays, July 10 & 24, August 14 & 28
Families are invited to join us outside to listen to a story brought to you by the Washington-Centerville Public Library! Participate in nature-themed activities following the story. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on.
Registration is not required, but is recommended.
Early Adventures
Ages 0 – 4 years with adult companion
These exploratory hikes foster curiosity and confidence in young children. Your leader will point out seasonal changes and other natural points of interest in the parks. Hike is on a natural path. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking.

Nerf Battle Games
Ages 9 – 13
It’s an all-out battle on the field! Dodgeball and capture the flag style games will take place on the Schoolhouse game field. The field will be loaded with a variety of obstacles to dodge and duck! All Nerf foam darts will be provided, but participants must bring their own Nerf gun labeled with their name.

Box Turtle Shell-a-bration!
All ages
Have you ever spotted a box turtle during a summer hike through the woods? Box turtles are masters of camouflage, blending into the forest floor where they live a secretive and solitary life. Meet a live box turtle up close and learn more about the adaptations that help them thrive in their wooded habitat. Create your own box turtle craft to take home.

Hike with a Naturalist
Ages 18 and up
Join us on a stroll through your park! A naturalist will point out seasonal changes and discuss the wildlife we observe. Hike is on a natural path.

Layered Paper Art & Pure Barre
Ages 18 and up
A little bit of art and a great workout! We have teamed up with Pure Barre to work on our minds and bodies. Participants will create a layered paper nature scene to take home! This Pure Barre classic class provides a low-impact, high-intensity, total body workout in just 50 minutes!

Neighborhood Yoga: Vinyasa Flow
Ages 18 and up
Gentle yoga, vinyasa flow and breathwork + meditation classes will be offered in a soothing neighborhood park setting, led by Method Yoga Studio’s Megan Lees. Each class is suitable for all levels. Please bring a mat and water bottle. Classes are weather dependent.

Butterfly Survey
Recommended for ages 8 and up
Help contribute to research by joining the naturalist on butterfly surveys. Identify and count butterflies while observing other seasonal wildlife as we stroll. No experience is necessary. Trail is approximately one mile in length on uneven terrain.

Young Birders Club Chapter Meeting
Ages 11 – 18
Bird watching and identification is a fascinating subject. You will walk away with a greater knowledge of birds and their role in the ecosystem. A light snack is included. Participants must be members of the Ohio Young Birders Club.
The Summer Session of the Southwest Chapter is hosted by The Habitat at Kettering. You must register through them to attend. Program Code: 03-30240-B
Strollers in Motion Try-It Day!
Adult caregivers with child 6 weeks – Pre K
Stop by Schoolhouse Park to try a demo of Strollers in Motion class! Strollers in Motion is a stroller-based workout for moms, dads or other caregivers. Each total body workout incorporates power walking and strolling, strength training, balance work and toning. Strollers in Motion is led by Kenzie Potts.
Creek Week: Sand, Silt and Clay; Oh My!
All ages
Creek Week is back! We will learn about the threats to water quality, how to reduce our impact, and how the creek ecosystem functions. Individuals attending three or more programs will receive a special Creek Week patch. Please dress to be in the creek. Close-toed shoes are required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Youth Archery Camp B (PM)
Ages 8 – 12
Tuesday – Thursday, July 18 – 20

This introductory archery camp will teach the basics of competition-style archery. Using technique, range safety and basic archery terms, campers will enjoy games and gain a new hobby to enjoy with friends. All equipment will be provided.

Summer Pressed Flowers
Ages 14 and up
This class will begin with an introduction to various methods of flower pressing and preserving. After that, we will be pressing some flowers of our own and making art with dried flowers. Each participant will receive a wooden flower press to keep.

Creek Week: Wildlife Survey
All ages
We will use charts to determine how many creatures call Sugar Creek home. We will also discuss the life histories of the creatures we find and how they tie into the ecosystem. You will become creek experts by the end of this week! Individuals attending three or more programs will receive a special Creek Week patch. Please dress to be in the creek. Close-toed shoes are required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
