Nature Fun: An Outdoor Family Storytime

Families are invited to join us outside to listen to a story brought to you by the Washington-Centerville Public Library! Participate in nature-themed activities following the story. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on.

National American Eagle Day

National American Eagle Day is June 20th. We will learn about the life of the majestic bald eagle along a self-guided trail. Then we will visit the Mark Kreusch Nature Playce to build a bald eagle nest that fits your whole family!

Butterfly Survey
Recommended for ages 8 and up
Help contribute to research by joining the naturalist on butterfly surveys. Identify and count butterflies while observing other seasonal wildlife as we stroll. No experience is necessary. Trail is approximately one mile in length on uneven terrain.

Young Birders Club Chapter Meeting
Ages 11 – 18
Bird watching and identification is a fascinating subject. You will walk away with a greater knowledge of birds and their role in the ecosystem. A light snack is included. Participants must be members of the Ohio Young Birders Club.
The Summer Session of the Southwest Chapter is hosted by The Habitat at Kettering. You must register through them to attend. Program Code: 03-30240-A

Sunday Sundaes: National Picnic Day

Celebrate National Picnic Day with a sundae at the Smith House! Enjoy a relaxing summer afternoon with yard games and a guided hike. Bring your own picnic blanket or lawn chair. This event is weather-dependent, please check cwpd.org for weather updates.

Camp WILD Child – Wild about Water
Ages 3 – 6
Monday – Thursday, June 20 – June 23
Campers will join the teachers of WILD Child Nature Preschool for a wild week of MESSY play, exploration & nature adventures! This memorable week of camp will include hiking, unstructured nature play, creek romping, and more! Your child will explore with their five senses through process art and sensory play, participate in cooperative games, investigate invitation stations, and have the chance to truly let their imaginations run wild!
At WILD Child we believe “there is no such thing as bad weather” and our programming is held outdoors in all safe weather conditions! Please remember to dress for the mess and prepare to be outdoors, rain or shine! **All campers will receive a WILD CHILD camp shirt**
Campers will need to bring a small hiking backpack, reusable water bottle, healthy snack, and a sack lunch daily. *fruit provided at snack time.

Youth Archery Camp A (PM)

This introductory archery camp will teach the basics of competition-style archery. Using technique, range safety and basic archery terms, campers will enjoy games and gain a new hobby to enjoy with friends. All equipment will be provided.

Fantastic Fireflies
All ages
Let’s check out the firefly fun at Bill Yeck Park! We will learn about fireflies and create our own glow craft! Then, we will hike into the forest and watch it come to life as the sun sets! Hike is on a crushed limestone path.

Needle Felting: Pollinator Friends
Ages 16 and up
This class is designed for all skill levels, providing as much or as little assistance as you would like. We will felt some of our favorite pollinators, including bees, butterflies and moths.

Firefly Yoga
Ages 18 and up

Enjoy a relaxing night of yoga with Method Yoga Studio’s Megan Lees while we watch the park sparkle! Learn about the bioluminescence of the firefly after practicing breathwork, standing poses, flowing poses and ending with relaxation surrounded by the glittering forest.

THE Firefly Hike
All ages
What else can we say? Words really cannot describe the fascination of peak firefly season in Grant Park. After an introduction, we will hike into the forest as the sun sets and watch the fireflies rise as darkness falls. Throughout the time, we will walk and wonder! Hike is on a natural path.

Watercolor Landscapes
Ages 18 and up
In this workshop, we are going to create watercolor landscapes. We will start with a quick black-and-white watercolor value study, then work with a wet-in-wet method to set the background. Once the initial layer dries we will create details using a wet-on-dry. We will be using studio materials. Beginner/intermediate level.
