Nature Fun: An Outdoor Family Storytime
All ages

Families are invited to join us outside to listen to a story brought to you by the Washington-Centerville Public Library and to participate in nature-themed activities following the story. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on.
Wildflower Yoga
Ages 18 and up

Enjoy a relaxing evening of yoga while we watch the flowers bloom! Learn about our native ephemeral (short-lived) forest wildflowers after practicing breathwork, standing poses, flowing poses and ending with relaxation surrounded by the spring forest.

Conservation Crew: Eco Brick Build
Ages 12 – 17
The time has come to build our EcoBrick creation! Crew members should wear work clothing that can be stained. If the weather is not ideal, a rain date will be arranged.

Introduction to Jewelry Making
Ages 10 – 15
Try out a new art skill with Kristin Bailey from Purple Paintbrush! Students will learn a little history of jewelry making and how it has evolved. With the information learned and materials provided, students will get to create a 2nd jewelry piece design on their own!
This class also satisfies the requirements for the Girl Scouts Junior Jewelry Making Badge. Badges themselves are NOT provided by CWPD or Purple Paintbrush.

Movie Party in the Park: Kicking & Screaming
All ages
Friday, April 28
(Rain date: Friday, May 5)
We will start out with interactive games and crafts. Bring a soccer ball to kick around before the movie! Grab dinner from Claybourne Grill and popsicles from Frios Gourmet Pops and claim the perfect spot with a picnic blanket and chairs. As the sun sets over the park, settle in to watch “Kicking & Screaming” under the stars.

Butterfly Survey
Recommended for ages 8 and up
Help contribute to research by joining the naturalist on butterfly surveys. Identify and count butterflies while observing other seasonal wildlife as we stroll. No experience is necessary. Trail is approximately one mile in length on uneven terrain. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Chalk on the Block!
All ages
We will provide a variety of chalk and stencils. Your job is to decorate the path around the Smith House! There will be additional activities for families. This is a come-and-go event. This is not a drop-off program.

Young Birders Club Chapter Meeting
Ages 10 – 18
Welcome to the Southwest Chapter of the Ohio Young Birders Club! Bird watching and identification are fascinating subjects. You will walk away with a greater knowledge of birds and their role in the ecosystem. Club activities are based on participant feedback, so you direct the focus of the study. Participants must be members of the Ohio Young Birders Club.
Early Adventures
Ages 0 – 4 years with adult companion
These exploratory hikes foster curiosity and confidence in young children. Your leader will point out seasonal changes and other natural points of interest in the parks. Hike is on a natural path. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking.

String Pull Painting & Pure Barre
Ages 18 and up
We have teamed up with Pure Barre to work on our minds and bodies. Participants will use a string/chain pull painting technique to create an abstract floral artwork! This Pure Barre classic class provides a low-impact, high-intensity, total body workout in just 50 minutes! You’ll leave the workout feeling refreshed and stress-free!

Let’s Meet Up: Nature Playce
All ages
Meet other parents/caregivers and their children. Stop by the Kennard Nature Nook for a free snack. Then, explore the Mark Kreusch Nature Playce during an unstructured and casual meet-up! An activity will be planned that children can participate in before or after unstructured playtime. The meet-up will not be held in inclement weather. Parents/caregivers are required to stay with their children.
Mad Science University
Ages 8 – 12

Science is all around us! Children will experience science firsthand through hands-on, and sometimes messy, activities! We will explore fascinating science concepts with a new theme each week. We are putting science to the test as your child learns about chemistry, biology and physics.

Oakley and Owlexander are loose in the parks! Solve the riddles to find them hidden in the parks and share your pictures with us on Facebook for a chance to win the grand champion hide-and-seek prize! Intergenerational Series: May Flowers
Ages 4 – 8 with grandparent(s)
Join us for a drop-in flower power afternoon! Grandchildren will enjoy a scavenger hunt along the paved path, a storytime and creating a flower jar with their grandparents! Registration is required, but you can arrive anytime between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Rainbows and Raindrops Adapted Fun Run
All ages
Enjoy our new paved path at the Kennard Nature Nook while stopping at various booths along the way. Each booth will have interactive games, giveaways, and all things rainbows and raindrops! Participants are encouraged to travel along the path visiting booths at their own pace. The last time to start is noon.
