Animal Robot-Palooza with Stemily

The robots are coming! Each day we’ll learn about a new animal and then build a robot inspired by it. Come hang out with Stemily Studios as we dive into the world of robots and build a total of five awesome bots — a fresh one every day!

Looking for some family-friendly competition? We will learn the basics of archery and will use the skills you learn in a friendly competition against your own family! Please register just one family member. Maximum four people per family. All equipment is provided.

Early Adventures

Hit the trail with us! These exploratory hikes foster curiosity and confidence in young children. Your leader will point out seasonal changes and other natural points of interest in the parks. Hike is on a paved path. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking.

Holes Creek has a great deal of history associated with it! We will hike to a lesser-known creeking spot and learn about the history of Grant Park along the way. Once we get to the creek, we will discuss and identify fossils! This is a Tools to Trek Program.

Teen BIG Games Challenge

Let’s take it to the BIG field and get some energy out before heading back to school! This evening will include all your favorite versions of dodgeball, Nerf challenges and capture the flag. We will cool down with water games and frozen treats! Please be sure to note any allergies.

Neighborhood Yoga: Breathwork/Meditation

Ages 18 and up

 

Exploring various yoga styles is as easy as walking down to your neighborhood park. Gentle yoga, vinyasa flow and breathwork + meditation classes will be offered in a soothing neighborhood park setting, led by Method Yoga Studio’s Megan Lees. Each class is suitable for all levels. Please bring a mat and water bottle. Classes are weather dependent.

Butterfly Survey

Recommended for ages 8 and up

 

Help contribute to research by joining the naturalist on butterfly surveys. Identify and count butterflies while observing other seasonal wildlife as we stroll. No experience is necessary. Trail is approximately one mile in length on uneven terrain. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Create Together Workshop with Now and Zen

This adult and child sand art workshop is a perfect opportunity to have a fun bonding experience with your favorite little one! Kids and adults alike will enjoy being creative with sand art — with the bonus of adding live air plants.

Bubble-palooza Fun Run

A fun run with bubbles everywhere! Learn where you can spot bubbles in nature as you stop by stations with … you guessed it … bubbles! This will be a three-quarter-mile course with a 100-meter dash option for ages 10 and under. This event is sponsored by Dayton Children’s Hospital.

Bike Centerville Advanced Ride B

Wagon Trail Park 8450 Washington Village Dr., Dayton, OH, United States

Ages 18 and up

 

The ride will be led by trained and experienced bike leaders and will help you learn routes to shopping, parks and more! This ride will take our Bike Centerville Community Rides up a level and be approximately 22 miles starting at Wagon Trail Park, exploring Springboro before ending back where you started.

Hike with a Naturalist

Movie Party in the Park: Ratatouille

Join us for a movie party in the park featuring Ratatouille! The night will begin with games, activities and crafts. The professionals from Claybourne Grille food truck would be pleased to serve you! You may also bring a picnic blanket dinner. At sunset, we will gather around the big screen for the main movie event! This event is made possible by a partnership with The Jeff Probst Group at Keller Williams Community Partners.

Pickleball League Any Doubles Intermediate+ B Mon

Mondays, August 19 – September 23

 

Join a Park District pickleball league and play pickleball in the parks this summer! All leagues are 5 weeks long. This for-fun league is open to any doubles teams (men’s, women’s or mixed doubles) at the intermediate level. Please note, this is a league designed for players with a strong understanding of pickleball rules, and who are at an intermediate or higher level of competition. No instruction/lessons are included in the league.
