Butterfly Survey

Help contribute to research by joining the naturalist on butterfly surveys. Identify and count butterflies while observing other seasonal wildlife as we stroll. No experience is necessary. Trail is approximately one mile in length on uneven terrain. This is a Tools to Trek program.

Safety on Wheels

Join the Noon Optimist Club of Centerville, in partnership with the Centerville-Washington Park District, the Centerville Police Department and Bike Centerville, promote youth bicycle safety in the community. Children of all ages are encouraged to attend and bring their bicycles. Free bicycle helmets will be available, along with helmet fittings, and bikes will be given a safety check before kids ride the fun obstacle course! There will also be raffle prizes throughout the event, including grand prize bicycles.

Take advantage of this opportunity to explore Centerville and Washington Township by bicycle. The ride will be led by trained and experienced bike leaders and will help you learn routes to shopping, parks and more! The ride will be an easy-paced 10 to 15 miles.

Campfire Yoga

Celebrate spring with Method Yoga Studio’s Megan Lees! Enjoy some downtime next to the warm and cozy fire. This outdoor yoga class will include warm-up, breath work, standing poses, flowing poses and end with relaxation around the campfire.

Creating a Wildlife Habitat

Grant Park, Kennard Nature Nook 6588 McEwen Rd., Centerville, OH, United States

Families will receive a kit and learn how to provide food, water, shelter and space to our local insects and birds. Families are encouraged to certify their backyards as an official habitat through the National Wildlife Federation. Families will receive native plants in addition to other supplies. This is a Tools to Trek program. Dress for a mess!

Art-chery (Youth)

Ages 8 – 15

 

Have you ever painted a pink and blue tree using only cotton balls? This might be your chance! First, you’ll learn the basics of archery. Then, you’ll use your new skills to aim at the targets. Your arrows will determine the colors, tools and inspiration for an artistic masterpiece of your creation! All equipment is provided and no experience is necessary. This is a drop-off program, but adults are welcome to stay and observe.

Nature Journaling through Watercolor: Landscapes

Ages 18 and up

 

Materials to bring: travel watercolor paint set, aqua paint brush, waterproof fine tip pen, pencil with eraser, bull clip, drawing board, and a sketchbook or journal (or any other materials you’d like to use instead). These free nature journaling workshops are open to adults of all skill levels! Led by visual artist and designer Renee Hopson.

Yoga in the Park A
