Moms Walk and Talk

Mondays, March 2 – May 18

 

We will meet near the shelter for introductions then walk along the park’s paved path. A local mom will lead the group and will have various discussion topics. Feel free to bring your younger children in carriers or strollers. Note: All children are welcome to attend a fun park play date on Monday, March 23, during Spring Break.

 

There is no registration deadline for this program. Registration is required, but you can join anytime!

A Walk in the Park

Ages 18 and up
Tuesdays & Thursdays, March 3 – May 28

 

These are self-guided walks around your community parks! Walking helps maintain a healthy weight, increases energy, lifts your spirits, strengthens memory and protects from heart disease and high blood pressure. Enjoy reduced stress, improved quality of sleep and the many benefits from an improved quality of life.

Trail Trekking/Nordic Walking (with Pole Rental)

Ages 18 and up
Tuesdays & Fridays, March 3 – May 29

 

Meet up with other trail trekking enthusiasts to trek through the parks through this self-guided meet-up program! Sign up to rent Nordic poles if you want to try trekking before you purchase your own set. You will be contacted to sign a borrower’s permit and pick up your set for the fall. A limited number of rental poles are available.

Hike For Your Health

Ages 18 and up
Wednesdays, March 4 – May 27

 

Staff and volunteers will lead groups at different paces. Hike for Your Health is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and get to know some of your parks better. All hikes are on natural trails. Please wear appropriate shoes for trails that may be muddy or slick.

Fitness for Longevity A

This class is designed to help you maintain the strength, mobility and power at age 100 that you have now. Accomplished through the incorporation of strength, cardio, power, balance and mindfulness focused on gratitude, forgiveness and compassion. All levels are welcome. Taught by Dan Loofboro. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Crafts with Nature – Turtles!

Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion

 

We will complete crafts with nature/sensory themes, read stories, play games and take short hikes in the park — all to spark a love of nature in our youngest community members! The theme for March is ‘Turtles!’. This program is limited to one adult companion per registrant.

Art & Imagination

Ohio Young Birders Club Chapter Meeting

Join the OYBC Southwest Chapter! Kettering PRCA and Centerville-Washington Park District are collaborating to bring the joy of bird watching to our youth through the Ohio Young Birders Club. Light snacks are provided. Participants must become members of the Ohio Young Birders Club.

Stemily Studios: DIY Paper Making

Turn scraps into something spectacular! In this hands-on class, kids will learn how to make their very own paper from recycled materials. They’ll blend, pour and press to create colorful handmade sheets — perfect for writing notes, decorating or using in future crafts.

Amazing Athletes at the Park

Join Amazing Athletes to practice coordination, fine motor and gross motor skills! This program uses the fundamentals of 10 different sports to help build and develop motor skills, nutritional knowledge and body awareness. This class will be held indoors with the option to go outside when the weather permits.

National Plant a Flower Day!

Recommended for families with children ages 5 and up

 

March 12 is National Plant a Flower Day! Decorate a flowerpot as a family and choose a native flower to grow. While we craft, we will learn about different types of gardening and how flowers support wildlife. Register individually if your group would like more than one flowerpot. This is a Tools to Trek program
