These are self-guided walks around your community parks! Walking helps maintain a healthy weight, increases energy, lifts your spirits, strengthens memory and protects from heart disease and high blood pressure. Enjoy reduced stress, improved quality of sleep and the many benefits from an improved quality of life.

Meet up with other trail trekking enthusiasts to trek through the parks during this self-guided meet-up program! You must bring your own Nordic poles if you sign up for this option. Tuesday Trail Trekking locations will be the same as the A Walk in the Park program.

Meet up with other trail trekking enthusiasts to trek through the parks through this self-guided meet-up program! Sign up to rent Nordic poles if you want to try trekking before you purchase your own set. You will be contacted to sign a borrower’s permit and pick up your set for the fall. A limited number of rental poles are available. Note: Tuesday Trail Trekking locations will be the same as the A Walk in the Park program.

Staff and volunteers will lead groups at different paces. Hike for Your Health is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and get to know some of your parks better. All hikes are on natural trails. Please wear appropriate shoes for trails that may be muddy or slick.

The Ugly Sweater ‘Oh What Fun’ Run
All ages
December 20 is National Ugly Sweater Day! Join us for a fun run inspired by one of the most “fashionable” parts of the holiday season! Wear your ugliest sweater (or make one yourself!) and be ready to learn about some of the ugly “sweaters” we can find in the natural world. Vote on the “ugliest sweater” in nature to enter a raffle!
Winter Hiking Club: Solstice Sunset
All ages
Participants will join the instructor for a brief nature lesson, game, art, or activity before the group starts the hike to explore the park. This is a Tools to Trek program. Individuals who attend Winter Hiking Club will get a themed sticker! This hike takes place on a natural path.
Arctic Exploration Camp
Ages 5 – 12
A winter break camp experience to keep your children active while school is out! Much like our summer day camp, campers will explore the park, but this time for all things winter! Children will warm up in the Smith House with games, crafts and nature programs.

Ages 3 – 5
Throughout the morning your camper will play games, sing songs, do crafts, experience stories and play in the winter woods. Please dress them for the weather!

Stemily Camp: Minecraft Flora & Fauna
Ages 7 – 12
Children dive into the cool world of Minecraft and see how it matches up with nature in their own backyard. We’ll explore the different virtual biomes and discover amazing plants and animals that look just like the ones around us. Get ready for a wild adventure that brings the magic of Minecraft and the wonders of nature together! This is a one-day, all-day camp. Campers should pack water and lunch (nut-free) and dress for the weather.

Conservation Crew: Nest Box Build
Ages 12 – 18
We will construct larg nest boxes for owls, kestrels and squirrels to use. The boxes will be installed in your parks at a later date.

Creative Crafting
Ages 9 – 13
Try new art skills during this fun crafting program based on nature themes. Each session will have different options for participants to choose from and allow them to work independently or get creative together!

Embroidery Journaling: Stitch the Year with CWPD
Ages 14 and up
Thursdays, January 2, February 6 & March 6
This class will take us through 2025 as we create an embroidered journal representing important or special memories with simple stitches and colorful designs. The first class will cover the basics of making the journal and a few beginner-friendly stitches. No previous experience is required to take this journey. Each session will include light refreshments and a nature talk on a seasonal topic. All supplies needed to begin will be provided, and you are not required to attend every session!
