Watercolor Painting Using Resistance Techniques

In this workshop, we are going to create stylized nature paintings using resistance techniques. We will explore a variety of techniques while creating our paintings. We will be using studio materials. Leave the class with two stylized nature-themed paintings.

Intergenerational Series: Winter Warm-Up Tea Party

Tea time is a great way to spend an afternoon together! Enjoy the view of the park while warming up inside. We will have tea and treats sure to please all ages. This intergenerational program will feature light refreshments, snacks, nature crafts and a story. One registration per family.

Strollers in Motion

Adult caregivers with child 6 weeks – Pre K
Mondays, January 22 – February 19

A stroller-based workout for moms, dads or other caregivers. Each total body workout incorporates power walking and strolling, strength training, balance work and toning. Led by Casie Boebinger. This program will be adapted to be outdoors, indoors, or a combination of the two depending on the weather conditions and temperatures for each day.

Amazing Athletes at the Park B

Wednesdays, January 24 – February 28

 

This program uses the fundamentals of 10 different sports to help build and develop motor skills, nutritional knowledge and body awareness. Sign up for both sessions and receive an Amazing Athletes t-shirt! This class will be held outdoors when possible with the option to go inside for inclement weather, so please dress accordingly.

Winter Stargazing

Boonshoft Museum of Discovery will have an indoor planetarium to view the night sky in the Nature Nook. There will also be opportunities for various stargazing activities outside, including hot chocolate and a short night hike with a naturalist! Please register each member of the family who will be attending. The dome has limited space.

Participants will join the instructor for a brief nature lesson, game or activity before the group starts the hike to explore the park. This is a Tools to Trek program. Individuals attending three or more hikes will get a themed patch. This hike takes place on a crushed limestone path.

 

Participants can register up to the start of the program.

Tie-Dye & Snowball Fight

Design and make your own tie-dye apron to use for cooking or messy crafts! After tie-dying, we will head outside for an epic snowball fight in our natural play area.

Beginner Naturalists Club: Muddy Messes

CWPD is looking for our newest generation of naturalists! This program is an opportunity for participants to dress up as naturalists and explore the park through their five senses. The theme for February is muddy messes.

Watercolor Winter Landscapes

In this workshop, we are going to create watercolor landscapes. We will start with a quick gradation watercolor study, then work with a wet-in-wet method to set the background. Once the initial layer dries we will create details using a wet-on-dry method. We will be using studio materials. Leave the class with a complete landscape painting.
