Grandparents will help their grandkids make cards to take home and/or mail to loved ones. Participants will also play games and listen to a Valentine’s Day story.

I Wuff You Valentine Hike
All ages.
Happy Valentine’s Day to our favorite pups! Join us for a self-guided afternoon hike through the trails of Bill Yeck Park. You and your pup will be pampered with special treats along the way! Participants are welcome to come anytime during the program. The final time to start the hike is 2:30 p.m.
Registration is not required, but you may register to get event weather updates.
Storytime and Canvas: Valentine’s Day
Ages 3 – 6 with adult companion
Join Kristin Bailey from The Purple Paintbrush LLC to create a “love-ly” canvas scene with sticker stencils and/or a heart-shaped magnetic canvas. Please register each child attending.

Glass Painting
Ages 12 – 18
Go over the basics of painting on pieces of glass to create completely personalized artwork showcasing your favorite animal, fictional character or another image of choice. All supplies will be provided, and no previous or artistic experience is needed to enjoy this program.

Reading in the Wild – Storms
Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion
We will interact with stories, complete crafts with sensory themes and take short hikes in the park — sparking a love of nature in our youngest community members! This program is limited to one adult companion per registrant. The theme for February is storms. The Reading in the Wild February programs are identical, please only select one.

Glass Fusing: Winter Birch Trees
Ages 16 and up
You will create a beautiful winter birch tree scene on a 10.75″ square of glass. A metal hanger will be added if you would like for it to be a window decoration! All materials, except a stand for your project, are included.

Winter Woods Camp
Ages 5 – 12
Calling all kids that love camp! Join us on your day off school for a camp full of all our favorite fun camp activities, but in the winter! Campers will enjoy hikes and games outside, gather around the fire circle for s’mores, then warm up in the Smith House with games and crafts.

Children’s Charcuterie Board Workshop
Ages 8 – 15 with an adult companion
Let’s learn how to make a beautiful charcuterie board! Join Holistic Health Coach Michelle Daniel of The Lifestyle Technique as you learn the basics of nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. Learn the art of charcuterie and take home a delicious snack to go! Weather permitting we will go on a short hike after we have created our charcuterie boards! One charcuterie board per registration. Please register multiple children individually if you would like them to each make their own boards.

Conservation Crew: Great Backyard Bird Count
Ages 12 – 17
Birdwatchers are needed to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count! We will create a list of birds to contribute data to the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Please dress for the weather. Bring binoculars and an identification guide if you have one. You can also borrow binoculars and guidebooks from the Park District. For additional volunteer hours, you can help over the weekend on your own. We will assign you your own park to survey!

Art Journaling
Ages 18 and up
In this workshop, we will utilize a variety of materials, such as stencils, collage papers and acrylic paint to create nature-themed art journal layouts. We will be using studio materials. Leave the class with a journal and a few completed layouts. Studio materials provided.

Winter Hiking Club: Sleeping Insects
All ages
Participants will join the instructor for a brief nature lesson, game or activity before the group starts the hike to explore the park. This is a Tools to Trek program. Individuals attending three or more hikes will get a themed patch. This hike takes place on a natural path.
Participants can register up to the start of the program.
Young Birders Club Chapter Meeting
Ages 10 – 18

Bird watching and identification is a fascinating subject. You will walk away with a greater knowledge of birds and their role in the ecosystem. Club activities are based on participant feedback, so you direct the focus of study. A light snack is included. Participants must be members of the Ohio Young Birders Club.
