Hidden Gems

Your parks are full of hidden gems! We will spend the week finding all the Grant Park gems! To find our hidden gems, we have to learn all about navigating the woods. We will learn tasks like hiking, orienteering, reading maps and trekking new terrain. On the last day, we will put our new knowledge to the test for a day full of adventure!

Bubble-palooza and Water-ful Fun

It is water week! We will participate in activities centered around bubbles and water throughout the week! Not only will we play games that use water, but we will also make some awesome water and bubble-inspired crafts. Get excited — it’s bubble-palooza! Please dress in old clothing, and we will provide aprons for especially messy crafts.

This week, campers will focus on the wonders of rocks! We will learn about different types of rock, find and identify rocks in the woods, and paint rocks to hide in the park.

Artistic Adventures!

It’s time to break out the inner artist in us all! This week we will be focusing on artwork that challenges our creative side. Projects like paint pouring and rock art are on the agenda, and we will throw a few camp-favorite games into the mix as well!

D&D with CWPD B
Ages 12 – 17
Monday – Thursday, July 15 – 18
Participants will play as members of a Forest Ranger’s Guild, working to protect and conserve a vibrant fantasy world. This four-day program will teach you everything you need to know about playing D & D. Each participant will be given their own set of dice. Both beginner and experienced players are welcome.

Let’s Meet Up: Nature Playce
All ages
Enjoy fresh air and nature playtime. Meet other parents/caregivers and their children. Stop by the Kennard Nature Nook for a free snack. Then, explore the Mark Kreusch Nature Playce during an unstructured and casual meet-up! An activity will be planned that children can participate in before or after unstructured playtime.

Summer Pressed Flowers
Ages 14 and up
This class will begin with an introduction to various methods of flower pressing and preserving. After that, we will be pressing some flowers of our own and making art with dried flowers. Each participant will receive a wooden flower press to keep.

Neighborhood Yoga: Vinyasa Flow
Ages 18 and up
Gentle yoga, vinyasa flow and breathwork + meditation classes will be offered in a soothing neighborhood park setting, led by Method Yoga Studio’s Megan Lees. Each class is suitable for all levels. Please bring a mat and water bottle. Classes are weather dependent.

Intergenerational Series: Bubbles & Bubble Art
Ages 4 – 7 with grandparent(s)
Let’s explore bubbles together with a bubble party! We will make a unique craft using bubbles, enjoy bubble playtime and finish the session with a fun hike! The Intergenerational Series is only for grandparents and their grandchildren. Parents and other caregivers may attend any of our other programs.

Grand Reopening of the Sprayground
Join us for a ribbon cutting, refreshments and fun water play as we celebrate the reopening of the sprayground! The renovation, sponsored by Dayton Children’s Hospital, was designed to provide accessibility and joy for the community.
Frios is making a special appearance with free treats from 11 am to noon! We hope to see you there!
