The Importance of Trees in our Urban Environment
Ages 16 and up
Pat Migliozzi, Certified Forester with the ODNR Division of Forestry will share how trees and shrubs are beneficial to us and wildlife in our landscapes. Best practices for site and plant selections will also be covered.
Registration is taken by Washington-Centerville Public Library beginning on January 13.

Winter Woods
Ages 5 – 12
Calling all kids that love camp! Join us on your day off school for a camp full of all our favorite fun camp activities, but in the winter! Campers will enjoy hikes and games outside, gather around the fire circle for s’mores, then warm up in the Smith House with games and crafts. You may also register for camp on Monday, February 17!

Valentine's Day Family Art Workshop
Recommended for ages 5 – 10 with adult companion (s)
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a heartwarming family craft session! Work together to create a personalized family plate with your handprints and names. It will be fired in the kiln, making it a durable memento. Add some extra love to your celebration with a special flower craft, perfectly arranged in a vase for you to take home and enjoy. Register one person per family. If you would like to make multiple plates, register an additional child or adult.

Winter Hiking Club: Evergreen Art
All ages
Participants will join the instructor for a brief nature lesson, game, art, or activity before the group starts the hike to explore the park. This is a Tools to Trek program. Individuals who attend Winter Hiking Club will get a themed sticker! This hike takes place on a natural path.
Participants can register up to the start of the program.
Young Birders Club Meeting: Feb
Ages 12 – 18
Kettering PRCA and Centerville-Washington Park District are collaborating to bring the joy of bird watching to our youth. Bird watching and identification is a fun and rewarding hobby and also a great place to make friends. Light snacks are provided. Participants must become members of the Ohio Young Birders Club and be between the ages of 12 and 18.

I Wuff You Valentine Hike
All ages.
Happy Valentine’s Day to our favorite pups! Join us for a self-guided hike through the trails of Bill Yeck Park. You and your pup will be pampered with special treats along the way as you visit stations meant to show your dog how much they mean to you! Participants are welcome to come anytime during the program. The final time to start the hike is 1:30 p.m.
Registration is not required.

Little Tikes Winter Olympics
Ages 4 – 8
A morning of fitness fun for children on a day off school! This event will feature a variety of winter-themed activities and sports inspired by the Winter Olympics. It aims to promote physical activity, coordination and imaginative play, providing children with a fun and engaging way to experience winter sports in a monitored environment. Child-friendly equipment and decorations will be included, making an exciting and festive experience for young participants!

Pizza Party
Ages 8 – 15
Enjoy the day off school with a pizza party! Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling will guide participants through making their own personal pizza and a crunchy side salad. Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this class.

Preschool Nature Series: A Year of Groundhogs!
Ages 3 – 5 with adult companion
Groundhogs are one of Ohio’s true hibernators! Walk the path with a naturalist and learn what a groundhog does throughout the year.

Glass Fusing: Winter Birch Trees B
Ages 16 and up
You will create a beautiful winter birch scene on a 10.75” square of glass. Kathy Woodruff from Busy Beaver will lead participants through our biggest glass fusing project of the season!

Winter Stargazing A
Ages 6 and up
It may be chilly, but we can still enjoy an indoor stargazing experience! Boonshoft Museum of Discovery will have an indoor planetarium to view the night sky in the Nature Nook. There will also be opportunities for various stargazing activities outside, including hot chocolate and a short night hike with a naturalist! Please register each member of the family who will be attending. The dome has limited space.

Forts in the Forest
All ages
Build forts with what nature provides — sticks, leaves, mud or snow! Discover the fun of using nature to make a shelter as a family. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative use of materials, most livable and most woodland fairy-tastic. At the end of the program, we will take a commemorative picture and learn the proper way to give your creation back to nature. One registration per family.

Watercolor Still Life
Ages 18 and up
We will create a watercolor still life painting based on observation. We will start with a quick study, then utilize a variety of techniques to create a finished painting. You will leave the class with one complete painting. Studio materials will be provided to use in class.
