Crafts with Nature: Where the Wildlife Go
Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion
We will complete crafts with nature/sensory themes, read stories, play games and take short hikes in the park. The theme for December is ‘Where the Wildlife Go’. This program is limited to one adult companion per registrant. The Crafts with Nature December programs are identical, please only select one. If the weather is adverse or chilly, we may not go on the hike. Backpacks and front carriers are appropriate if your child is not walking. Strollers are not recommended at parks with natural terrain.

Holiday Gift Workshop B
Ages 5 – 9
Join CWPD staff to make creative presents for your loved ones at this station-based craft program. Children will also get to add bags and gift tags to keep the presents a surprise! If weather permits, we will take a few breaks to play games outside while we let the projects dry.

Owlexander’s Cinema: Conservation
Ages 5 – 10
Owlexander is holding a movie night, and he’s inviting his friends to join him for a fun-filled evening! We will kick off the evening with crafts all about conservation, games and preparing a salty snack. Then, we will settle in for a kid-friendly movie all about nature! Looking for something to do while your kids are out and about? Check out Goat Yoga happening the same night!

National Ugly Sweater Goat Yoga
Ages 18 and up
This will be a one-of-a-kind evening filled with lots of fun and a bit of yoga! Goat Country, LLC. will bring their adorable goats dressed up for National Ugly Sweater Day. Practice some classic poses while interacting with the goats. Additionally, participants are encouraged to wear ugly sweaters to get in the holiday spirit! Time for pictures and cuddles with the mini goats will be included at the end.

Hike with a Naturalist
Ages 18 and up
Join us on a stroll through your park! A naturalist will point out seasonal changes and discuss the wildlife we observe. Hike is on a natural path.

Cocoa & Cookies
Ages 6 – 10
Kick off winter break with cocoa and cookies with Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling! Children will bake cookies and make hot cocoa to enjoy during the class. They will also make it as a gift in a jar! Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this class.

The Ugly Sweater ‘Oh What Fun’ Run
All ages
December 20 is National Ugly Sweater Day! Join us for a fun run inspired by one of the most “fashionable” parts of the holiday season! Wear your ugliest sweater (or make one yourself!) and be ready to learn about some of the ugly “sweaters” we can find in the natural world. Vote on the “ugliest sweater” in nature to enter a raffle!
Winter Hiking Club: Solstice Sunset
All ages
Participants will join the instructor for a brief nature lesson, game, art, or activity before the group starts the hike to explore the park. This is a Tools to Trek program. Individuals who attend Winter Hiking Club will get a themed sticker! This hike takes place on a natural path.
Arctic Exploration Camp
Ages 5 – 12
A winter break camp experience to keep your children active while school is out! Much like our summer day camp, campers will explore the park, but this time for all things winter! Children will warm up in the Smith House with games, crafts and nature programs.

Throughout the morning your camper will play games, sing songs, do crafts, experience stories and play in the winter woods. Please dress them for the weather!

STEMily Camp: Minecraft Flora & Fauna
Ages 7 – 12
Children dive into the cool world of Minecraft and see how it matches up with nature in their own backyard. We’ll explore the different virtual biomes and discover amazing plants and animals that look just like the ones around us. Get ready for a wild adventure that brings the magic of Minecraft and the wonders of nature together! This is a one-day, all-day camp. Campers should pack water and lunch (nut-free) and dress for the weather.
