This class is a total body workout designed to bring people (like you!) together through music and dance. We dance to various styles of music (Latin, hip hop, pop, global rhythms, etc.) which provides a good mix of low to high-intensity moves. Instructor Emily Chandler strives to make this class high-energy and a lot of fun! Please bring a bottle of water.

Gentle Yoga D

Join us for a gentler, more adaptable yoga program. This class will feature additional guidance, modifications and props to assist in supporting postures and a slower pace. Taught by certified yoga instructor Kathleen Crosby. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Preschool Nature Series: Bat’s Amazing!
Ages 3 – 5 with adult companion
Just in time for Bat Appreciation Day, we will spotlight the importance of bats in the ecosystem! Dress for a hike, and come prepared for bat-themed activities! This is a Tools to Trek program.

Nature Fun: An Outdoor Family Storytime
All ages (recommended for children 5 and under)

Families are invited to join us outside to listen to a story brought to you by the Washington-Centerville Public Library! Participate in nature-themed activities following the story. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on. All sessions are Tools to Trek programs.
Registration is not required but is recommended.
Sunset and Strategy Game Night
Ages 18 and up
Join the Centerville-Washington Park District and the Washington-Centerville Public Library for a relaxing evening of games in the park! Enjoy a mix of outdoors-themed board games, giant lawn games, and nature-inspired puzzles — there’s something for everyone. Snacks and drinks will be provided as you play indoors and out while enjoying the sunset over the meadow. Please register each person attending and be sure to note any dietary restrictions.

Cue the Hue! Color Fun Run
All ages
Colors everywhere! Learn about some of nature’s most colorful and vibrant animals and plants. Visit color powder stations along the way! There will be a one-mile course plus a 100-meter dash option for ages 10 and under. The 100-meter dash will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Use your favorite fitness tracking app to record your time and share it on our Facebook event page! White/light t-shirt colors are recommended for the most vibrant results. Please be aware that leather and suede tend to stain with the color powder.
This is a Tools to Trek program. T-shirts will be provided for the first 100 youth participants registered by March 20. Please register children individually.
Nature Journaling through Watercolor: Trout Lily
Ages 18 and up
Led by visual artist and designer Renee Hopson, this bring-your-own-material, loose workshop is meant to connect you and your craft to nature. We will meet outside the Smith House and hike together to a trout lily patch to start painting. Materials to bring: travel watercolor paint set, aqua paint brush, waterproof fine tip pen, pencil with eraser, bull clip, drawing board, and a sketchbook or journal (or any other materials you’d like to use instead).

Signs of Nature: ASL Interpreted Hike
All ages (suggested for adult families or those with children ages 8 and up)

This adapted hike welcomes all community members, especially those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, to enjoy a stunning hike through the meadows of Bill Yeck Park! An ASL interpreter will assist our naturalist in sharing facts about the wildlife, plants and ecosystems we will explore! Registration (one per family) is required. Hike will be approximately 1.5 miles over natural terrain. This program is in partnership with Community Services for the Deaf Dayton.

This class is designed to help you maintain the strength, mobility and power at age 100 that you have now. You’ll work motor units — which disappear if we don’t use them — and all types of muscle, from slow twitch to fast twitch. All levels are welcome. Taught by Dan Loofboro. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Young Gardeners: Grow A Sunflower
Ages 3 – 6 with adult companion
Learn about sunflowers with us! We will learn about the life cycle of a sunflower and how they grow. Then we will decorate our pot and plant our own seeds! This program will be outside, weather permitting. Please register individually if your group would like more than one flowerpot per adult/child pair. This is not a drop-off program.

Glass Fusing: Whimsical Garden Décor
Ages 16 and up
Prepare your spring garden with glass décor. Kathy Woodruff from Busy Beaver will lead participants through the basics of glass fusing. Create two small pieces to stake in your garden.
