Join us for a gentler, more adaptable yoga program. This class will feature additional guidance, modifications and props to assist in supporting postures and a slower pace. Taught by certified yoga instructor Kathleen Crosby. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Beginner Pickleball Lessons
Ages 18 and up
Tuesdays, January 6 – February 3
Join Certified Pickleball Trainer James Lawson to develop the introductory skills to level up your pickleball game. James is a licensed and certified instructor with a DUPR rating of 5.23. This 4-week lesson is designed for the beginner player looking to develop basic skills to move up to a more competitive level of play. This program will be held indoors with adapted lessons during winter.

Beyond Recycling: How to Live Zero Waste
Ages 18 and up
Local Master Recycler and Zero-Waste Expert Mike Fanelli will take you through how to go from recycling pro to zero waste. From using local resources to expand your ability to recycle and compost, to changing your mindset about how and what you buy, you’ll walk away with tips and tricks to take your household one step further into the world of zero waste!

Junior Explorers
Ages 6 – 8
Wednesdays, January 7 – February 11
Children will learn about nature and the outdoors in this program designed to allow children to interact with nature in unique ways. Activities include discovery, challenges and games. We occasionally celebrate the last session of the season with a campfire and s’mores. Please let us know if your child has any dietary restrictions by answering the custom questions upon registration.

Spot the Owls Scavenger Hunt
All ages
Thursday, January 8 – Wednesday, February 18
Spot, the Park District Snowman, is excited to go owling in the parks! Whoooo knew we had so many! Each week, participants will receive a clue to go out in your parks to search for the owls. Owls will only be hiding at each park for one week! Scan the QR code on the sign next to Spot the Snowman to log which owls were in the park. Each week that you log owls gets you another entry into our raffle for some owl-themed prizes! After the hunt, an owl round-up with images of each owl will be emailed to you so you can vote for your favorite entry.
Registration deadline: Wednesday, February 11 (Clues are emailed every Thursday. Registering late may mean you miss some of the clues)

Try new art skills during this fun, nature-themed crafting program. Each session will offer different options for participants to choose from, allowing them to work independently or get creative together!

Young Birders Club Meeting
Ages 12 – 18
Kettering PRCA and Centerville-Washington Park District are collaborating to bring the joy of bird watching to our youth. Light snacks are provided. Participants must become members of the Ohio Young Birders Club and be between the ages of 12 and 18.

Warm up on a winter day! Learn a new skill with Katie Blauser from Eat Pretty Darling! Participants will make the ultimate comfort food lunch combo, baked grilled cheese and tomato soup! Please note: all major food allergens could be present in this class.

Method Studio’s Megan Lees leads these yoga classes for all levels. Classes include warm-up, breath work, standing poses, flowing poses and end with relaxation.

Imagination Crew – Nature Play!
Ages 3 – 6
There is so much to be learned through nature play, but it’s tough when the weather turns chilly. This indoor program welcomes young naturalists to a world of imaginative play, all themed around nature. Each month will feature a different topic! In January, we will dive into learning about bugs and insects through play.

Crafts with Nature – Colorful Creations!
Ages 18 months – 4 years with adult companion
Let’s get together and do a nature craft! We will complete crafts with nature/sensory themes, read stories, play games and take short hikes in the park — all to spark a love of nature in our youngest community members! The theme for January is ‘Colorful Creations!’. We will learn about colors in nature and make crafts inspired by them. This program will be indoors.

Art & Imagination
Ages 6 – 9
This drop-off program is designed to give your child the opportunity to get creative! They will design a variety of projects based on a monthly theme. Outdoor activities will be included when weather permits. Sign up for one or multiple sessions.

Little Flowers in Our Prairies
Ages 18 and up
A CWPD naturalist will present on native prairie species and discuss how they benefit our local pollinators. Participants will receive a small amount of native wildflower seeds to add to their own gardens. This event is co-sponsored by the Centerville-Washington Park District and the Washington-Centerville Public Library.
Registration for this program is requested and will be available through the library beginning December 14.
Preschool Nature Series: Meet a Tree
Ages 3 – 5 with adult companion
Time to learn all about trees so we will be ready to wake them up from their winter slumber come spring! We will look at parts of the tree and learn why some lose their leaves. Then we will go on a short hike and introduce ourselves to a tree. This is a Tools to Trek program.
